    Some studies have indicated that zinc supplementation will shorten the duration of colds and some studies have not – so basically, it is NOT an undisputed fact. One thing that zinc can do, though, is enhance taste perception. That is well-supported by the medical field (although you have to be careful of taking too much as that can have an adverse effect on taste and smell). I had a bad cold recently and lost my sense of taste and smell. I felt awful and even though I knew I needed to eat, I didn’t want to because everything was tasteless. Within 2-3 days of taking these lozenges my senses of taste and smell were back to normal. Once I could taste them, I found these lozenges to be quite good and who doesn’t prefer a good-tasting medicine over a bad one? I can’t definitively say they got me over my cold faster than if I hadn’t taken them but I can say that I felt better very shortly after taking them. Make of that what you will. Next cold – I’m getting more of these.

    Used this for the first couple days of a cold, it appeared to do little good. These also greatly affected my sense of taste, whereas the nose gel worked faster and did not affect my sense of taste. When these did not appear to be effective after two days, I switched to the nose gel and found immediate improvement for both symptions and my sense of taste.
