In researching this company Xymogen very briefly,,,,,, they claim they are used by Doctors around the world. If that being true then that says a lot about this companies reputation and trustworthiness. Now I use ALA (Alpha-Lipic-Acid) mainly for detox and recharge and liver support. But it does way more than that. So with this product we have the 450mcgs of Biotin added. I had seen where a few companies have added that to their ALA claiming it increased the metabolic usefulness but I never found much data to support that but hey it may be in fact true. Some Doctors advise taking biotin with ALA in case you might have the inherited genetic form of carboxylase deficiency syndrome which is extremely rare. Since this company caters to doctors that may be the reason its added. There are however a few studies out there indicating Biotin may compete with ALA which could mean you are not getting the full benefits of the ALA. Until we have more studies that are in agreement and conclusive I personally can’t make a call on this. I do take Biotin for my hair as it helps it from falling out and makes it stronger but I have never taken it at the same time with my ALA.
A few questions I do have with this is first off with the controlled release ? How was that done with ALA as I have never seen that before ? Perhaps it’s something like liposomal ?
Next when ALA is made (in the lab) half of it is the R form which is the active form and the other half is the S form which has little to no benefits (arguable). So we want the R form and most companies who offer just the R-form let you know as it cost a lot of money to separate it . Since we are not told I assume this 600 mg tab is 300mg R-form and 300mg S-Form. I don’t like assuming and I did post the question to the seller so hopefully that gets answered so we know. I normally take 300 to 500 mgs of R-form 5 days a week so with this brand I am still where I wanna be at ( or at least close) either way (combined or separated).
My favorite feature of ALA is its ability to detox the body from heavy metals and other toxins. It does this by chelating to them so the body can remove them. And it is supposedly the only detox that can cross the blood brain barrier. Our water supply and our agriculture methods with fertilizers and pesticides present just a few of the ways possible for exposure to these poisons like mercury, lead, and arsenic. ALA is widely known in the detox community as one of the strongest and most effective ways to safely remove them from our bodies.
Then we have the recharge where vitamin C for instance removes a free radical but that causes the chemical structure of Vitamin C to loose its ability to remove other free radicals/oxidants. ALA provides the chemical support to get the vitamin C back in a state where it can continue to do its work. Vitamin E same deal as well as others.
Lastly ALA really supports the liver and protects it especially with aiding in the production of Glutathione the strongest antioxidant there is.
So that’s just 3 of my my favs with ALA and the reason I take it.
I was real iffy on this to give it 4 stars or 5 especially considering my uncertainties and the price . But when I consider those in the detox circle who are suffering from various ailments that despite their best efforts can’t get diagnosed and come to believe it is due to heavy metals etc,,, well they are more than willing to pay top dollar for premo ALA. Same goes with diabetic neuropathy which is a horrible and painful situation. And for both of those groups there have been stories of success with ALA. I personally can not attest to that as thankfully I do not fall in either of those groups. And while I state my uncertainty with the added Biotin,, well if a doctor prefers it that way ,,, who am I to argue. So all 5 stars.
I like this brand as its controlled release meaning it works longer for you ( wish I knew how they do that). I like its tested for toxins and allergens. Notice they test it for heavy metals too ! Many supplements especially ones from over seas may/ could have heavy metals and do more harm than good. This company appears to have an excellent reputation which is important with a supplement like ALA. Reason being is you really do not feel anything as you just trust it’s doing it’s job. I have heard some people who had high levels of heavy metals/toxins according to their blood/urine test, did feel dizzy with ALA at times but they were taking very large dosages of ALA trying to quickly fix the problem. Also this company is GMP compliant and third party tested which is just a must for me to insure I am getting what was stated on the label and made in a safe manner. I do recommend this product and think this company goes to great lengths to make a safe and effective ALA supplement. Hope that was helpful !

I have been using this product for years from another company. My healthcare Dr recommended I take it. I was purchasing through provider from a different source using my Dr private label. I knew this brand made quality products, so I thought I would try it. Purchasing online makes it much easier to buy. It has been health benefits.. its a great immune support.

This is a great ALA + biotin supplement. It’s 3rd party tested for purity and potency, so you know it’s the real deal.
Alpha-lipoic acid has shown some promise in research for brain health and blood glucose – but it wouldn’t be my first choice of supplement for these 2 use cases. The tablets do have a bit of a strange odor which I find off putting, but this may just be the nature of ALA.
Overall – if you are looking for a high quality, 3rd party tested alpha-lipoic acid supplement, this product by Xymogen is a great choice. Value wise, it is much pricer than similarly dosed 600mg ALA supplements, so this likely wouldn’t be my personal choice for an ALA supplement.

Antioxidants in the body are used up as they attack free radicals.
Xymogen has been 3rd party tested so I feel safer taking it and like knowing that this supplement only has biotin and alpha-lipoic acid. These go down quick just like any other pill and I hope to see results after taking them daily.

I’ve been taking this for the last 2 weeks along with milk thistle and artichokes supplements. My New Year’s resolution was to burn all this fat off and get back in shape. With the belly fat I have accumulated, I know there is a lot of fat in my liver which causes my liver to be sluggish. This in turn makes it more difficult to burn belly fat. But by taking this along with the milk thistle and artichoke, these supplements have really helped my liver detoxify. I’ve seen a noticeable difference in the amount of belly fat that I’ve lost over the last 2 weeks. And I’ve done this with no cardio. Just been eating healthier and taking these supplements. These aren’t a magic pill that are just going to burn fat away but they will help your liver do its main job which is the store and in my case burn belly fat. I’d have the recommend this product and it is a great antioxidant as well.
