This Valerian Root extract, when taken a couple of hours before I want to fall asleep, helps me relax and feel more calm and be able to fall asleep more easily. However, my daughter and I both strongly dislike the smell of this powder. We tried at first dissolving it in water to drink it, and while the taste is actually very mild, it doesn’t dissolve well at all. Despite lots of shaking and stirring, it stays clumpy. I suppose it would be okay blended into smoothies, but that’s kind of a lot of work. We’re now putting it into capsules ourselves so we can swallow it, but it’s a time consuming and annoying process, and also I really hate swallowing pills, so I really wish I had been able to mix it in a drink, since the description for the product claims that it mixes into liquids easily. This product would probably work well if you’re already making smoothies at the time when you want to take this, or if you’re used to filling capsules yourself.

Did work as advertised. They could at least fill the package though. Good price. Tastes bad, but that’s expected. If someone can enjoy a shot of liquor for fun, you can take a shot of this for health.

My mom works two jobs, and she has trouble going to sleep. She kept telling me how melatonin doesn’t really work for her. I’d been taking supplements that had valerian root extract as one of the ingredients as well as melatonin, and for me the combination of the two worked so well that some nights I would sleep the night all the way through without having to get up in the middle of it. So I got my mom valerian root extract and recently she told me she’s begun getting better sleep.
Valerian root is powerful in its ability to make you feel drowsy and ready to go to bed. It’s good to take valerian root up to an hour before you want your head to hit the pillow. Then once you’ve done that, you’ll want to read a book or watch an episode of a show just to get yourself in a relaxed headspace that is miles away from your day-to-day stressors. This plus valerian root will make you fall asleep quickly and stay asleep, especially with a little melatonin right at bedtime.

I’m always skeptical when trying new brands, but was pleasantly surprised with this one. Potent product that works well. I rarely get an effect from valerian, this is one of the few brands that actually work. Their passionflower is great too.

This is definitely Valerian root, the smell and the taste confirms it for me, I come from the Caribbean where this root had been used for many generations to calm you down and helps you to go to sleep, this powder tastes a bit funny when you never tried Valerian before, but with regular use you get used to the flavor, plus always try to use some sort of sweetener, that will helps, the way I use this is to put a tablespoon of the powder in a reusable fabric teabag and boil it for 15min in 8 to 16OZ of water and let it rest until is lukewarm and then use my favorite sweetener and take it as a tea before bed, please be aware this can make you drowsy and you should be cautious if you have to drive the next day, take it little by little until you get used to it, also be careful if you have sleep apnea because remember this is a herbal tea and has influence on your respiratory system believe it or not, please always consult with your doctor before taking any supplement.

This product contains maltodextrin which is a highly processed filler! This is NOT 100% natural as stated on the label! Also the sell does no except returns so I had to call customer service to get my refund! Buyer Beware!!

So I’ve been using valerian root for a few years now, and have experimented with a lot of brands. I really like extracts because they’re a lot cheaper and give you a lot of bang for your buck, and this is my favorite brand 🙂 I’ve been using this brand specifically for a year now, and I haven’t changed since. It smells VERY pungent, but that’s not only expected from valerian, but that’s definitely expected for a potent extract (like this since it’s 4:1.) I started off just using this product for sleep, which is great for! But honestly, I’ve started taking it during the day because it helps me calm down and relax after a stressful day, or when I’m generally feeling anxious, which surpassingly has worked really well for!!! This wasn’t advertised for this use, so I don’t recommend it for this, but oddly enough my cats where really into this valerian powder in particular and they’ve been trying to roll on the bag like it’s catnip! Turns out, cats love this stuff similarly to catnip. Maybe you guys could turn this valerian extract into some cat toys too! Definitely recommend valerian, especially this product in particular! I’m almost out of this current bag, so I’ll be back soon to get some more! Thanks for reading my review!
