Summary: We recently decided to switch our pups off of their heart meds, but we want to protect their hearts, and a vet mentioned a good source is fish oil. Ordered this to add a few drops on their meals. The liquid form gives us the option to dropper-it into their mouth, but probably just easier and less messy to add to their food bowl.
Info: Had to do an internet search for what “DHA” is: Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
Pros: Made in Norway, orange additive to hide the fishiness.
Cons: Cost, a little bit expensive (but so is puppy heart meds, price comparison below); supplemental information (%DV) not listed.
Conclusion: At $40 for 2oz, rating this 4-stars (cost, %DV).

Wiley’s fish oils are the only company I buy from now. This Cod liver oil is fantastic. Great taste, no smell, excellent contents and a great value. I have ordered 2 more from Amazon in case they are sold out!

It seems like a decent product in some ways, though I have some questions. The oil isn’t clear like all the other cod liver oil I’ve ever had. It is an opaque orange color with an orange taste, but why the opaqueness? Maybe that is common with some products and nothing to worry about. Someone more knowledgeable may have no issue with opaqueness. But the product is also called Cod Liver Oil +. What is the plus sign. I seems other ingredients are added like safflower oil. I consider that to be adulteration, and not pure cod liver oil. The image on the product page doesn’t clearly show the ingredients, it’s blurry and small print. But I have included a pic that shows them. Though adulterated, that doesn’t mean it’s not super healthy and beneficial, but it’s easy to buy this product by mistakingly thinking your getting pure cod liver oil.
On a positive note, it tastes good with no fishy after taste. A chaser isn’t necessary. Product claims to be third party tested to be free of heavy metals and arsenic. It is from wild caught fish, and there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee. However, I find the current price of about $40 to be a tad high for less than 100% pure cod liver oil.

After some reserched it seems cod liver oil is the best supplement to take, next to soaking up the sun for 15 minutes, if one is vitimin D deficient. So I stumbled on this flavored Wiley’s Finest Cod Liver Oil. The first day I took it by the teaspoonful, I didn’t want it to touch my lips so I just tilted my head back and poured it in… and gagged. lol And there was still quite a bit left on the spoon and I just couldn’t bring myself to lick it off so to speak. The next day I decided to put a tsp in my daily glass of orange juice, still a lot of residue left on the teaspoon, I swished it around and found drank it back, much more palitable but there was still a lot of transference on the glass….. So, the NEXT day, I poured approximately a tsp full into my orange juice, did NOT swish it around and there was hardly any residue left in the glass (video attached)
I’ve been taking every day for a week now, and finding it easier to knock it back more and more every day. I’m feeling really good actually. I have noticed I have more energy, not so lethargic as I usually am and the “pipes” seem to be working a little more reliably lol.
I can’t recommend this Wiley’s Finest Cod Liver Oil enough…
Update: 06/17/2022: Finished the last of it yesterday morning. I really have been feeling less lethargic and my “movements” are much more regular, feeling rather cleansed actually, lol. I’ve just started on another bottle, different brand, but I would definitely buy this again.

Some mfrs. used to make CLO’s that had significant amounts of A & D, close to or exceeding 100% of the USRDA, without adding any or fermenting it. Heating the CLO to refine it destroys most or all of the A & D. This doesn’t even claim to have any A, and while it has D, they had to add it. Note that it is the last ingredient; and none might have come from the fish at all. This is some nutrients with CLO added to it with little or no nutritional value. Good CLA should have some DHA and EPA, but they heated it too much and destroyed. it.

This wild Norwegian cod liver oil appears to be of high quality and fresh. It is in the natural triglyceride form and contains 315mg EPA & 450mg DHA, plus lutein, vitamin D3 and E. The orange mango flavor is decent enough to help mask the fishy taste. It is palatable, albeit still a little fishy but fairs better than most cod liver oils that I have tried before. One serving size is 1 tsp, which is easy enough to manage.
This comes in an amber glass bottle with the screw cap wrapped for protection. It is made without sugar, gluten, starch, yeast, wheat, dairy, artificial flavors or colors, nuts, shellfish, soy, corn or sesame. Made in Norway. Overall, I like this cod liver oil. It is palatable and easy to take. High-quality and fresh. The added lutein, vitamin D3 and E are a nice touch. A little pricey but worth it for the quality. Good product.

Hubs has been taking one spoonful of cod liver oil every day for several month for it’s health benefits. He’s tasted a lot of different brands and says that though cod liver oil is not an especially pleasant taste, this seems to be good quality and he likes it. This one has a slight taste of orange.
