People review based on their incomplete knowledge can mislead you. Yes, they learned that Trans-resveratrol is white, so they think that the only way to get Resveratrol is from the white purified version. Wrong. In fact pure trans-resveratrol is not very stable. On the other hand the Knotweed root is stable, brown and typically has 50% trans-resveratrol. The other part is cis-resveratrol and that may or may not add effect. In the least, it’s more natural and more stable and it’s less expensive to consume 2 grams of whole knotweed to get 1 gram of trans than it is to just consume the more refined pure trans version. Got it? So ignore those who insist it must be white to be be right. Others, even less informed think that Polygonium (Japanese Knotweed) is not a good source. WRONG – It’s the best natural source! Almost all versions of resveratrol come from Knotweed. If they put some other stuff (grapeskins etc) in their ingredient list, it’s to help the misinformed believe what they want to believe.
Almost all affordable sources use knotweed and you just make sure you take enough so that half the mg = 1000 and you get enough trans-resveratrol that way. By the way, if you want to try some pure synthesized Trans-Resveratrol, they are just getting that process perfected in Europe and you can look for vat-fermented sources. Probably good, but some believe that nature packaged it best in the whole form. Finally, if you really want cheap, buy your knotweed root ground in bulk and just cap it up yourself using the manual capsule machines. That’s what you are usally buying anyway and you will save money but spend time. Or follow Stephan Harold Buhner’s rec and make teas etc with it.
PS. You never know when quality goes down and it may be that these guys are not selling the same anymore. You decide. But it does not have to be white to be good as noted above. Sinclair has unique access to pure products though paying extra will get you the refined product. But the rest of us just need shelf stable at affordable price. Personally, I buy my Knotweed root in bulk unless traveling.

The last time time I bought this it had a gelatin capsule. Now they claim it is a “veggie” capsule, but it is actually a methylcellulose capsule. Methylcellulose is a chemically processed synthetic product derived from trees. Humans do not eat trees and I don’t feel safe eating this type of capsule. Unfortunately, all of the vitamin manufacturers are changing from food-based gelatin capsules to synthetic tree-based methylcellulose capsules in order to accommodate vegetarians, and gain a few extra orders . The last time I checked a tree was not a vegetable. I would not consider this a “natural” product, since humans do not naturally eat trees.
