I bought this soybean oil because when I looked up best oil to use to season a cast iron grill pan. Internet said soybean oil is the best oil to use. I seasoned the pan 5 times. The pan works marvelous. Thank you for the oil

I’ve been using soy oil on my cast iron cookwear for decades with no problems. It’s a drying oil and should dry to a nice hard finish when exposed to air. I used this stuff once and when heated it smelled appalling, a horrible choking smell that made me feel like I couldn’t breathe and that lingered in the house for hours despite an air purifier and open doors. It did not dry to any kind of finish, in fact it removed the finish on the pan where it touched it. And I’ve never seen soy oil this color.
I’m not convinced it’s soy oil at all and the fumes from heating it on low heat really bothered my lungs for days Definitely do not recommend.
