Velona 100% pure and natural flaxseed oil is very versatile. It virgin unrefined and cold pressed without any solvents making it highly concentrated . Thus oil has many uses. You can use it as a dietary supplement by adding to your favorite smoothie or adding it to your salad dressing. You can use it on your body to help with irritation & wrinkles softening your skin and it can be applied to your hair to promote hair growth and prevent dandruff. It also works great as a body massaging oil. It comes in a big 16 fluid ounces with a pump included and I really enjoy using it for all the benefits listed it’s non gmo and great quality.

Helps with dry skin.
The pump bottle is easy to use
I do not like the smell however.

Happy to get my hands on this cold pressed flaxseed oil. It’s a deep golden oil with distinct nutty aroma. Similar to other carrier oils that are rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins, this flaxseed oil is rich, emollient and deeply nourishing. It does leave an oily feel upon application on skin but the absorption is decent without excessive greasiness. So far I enjoy tremendously using this for my hair scalp, cuticles and cracked heels. Also plan to blend this with lighter carrier oils and essential oils to concoct body/massage oil treatment. Another popular use of flaxseed oil is to season cast iron pans. Or add this to the diet like salad dressings or smoothies. This is simply a versatile ingredient and a wholesome addition to any skincare cabinet and pantry.

This flaxseed oil was a dark yellow coloring and had a thin consistency that absorbed quickly into the skin without leaving a sticky feeling. The scent is somewhat nutty, although it reminds me most of the scent of olives. I intend to use this externally, but since it indicates it can be used in food, I decided to taste test—it has a somewhat bitter nutty flavor (not something I would enjoy tasting). The oil came in an amber colored plastic bottle with a screw on lid, and also included a separate pump dispenser lid and a lid with a pour spout, so it has multiple options for accessing the oil based on whatever works best for your needs. Per the bottle, this oil’s country of origin is USA, Egypt and it was bottled in the USA. The expiration date on my bottle was 4/2026, so a year and a half shelf life, although I have heard that flaxseed oil has a much shorter life after it is opened, so I will be trying to use it up much sooner than that date.

If you’re familiar with the taste of flaxseed, this oil tastes like a strong version of that. Like extra virgin olive oil, it has an astringent or “hot” taste which we found is easily masked by mixing it half-and-half with olive oil and then making a balsamic dressing with it. That way you cannot detect any “hotness” at all.
I appreciated that the bottle says not to use it for frying or cooking – it does indeed have a low smoke point and so it’s best consumed in foods that don’t require any heat. We really like this oil and its contribution to balancing out our Omega-3 intake.

I’m using this for the oil cleansing method (where you wash your face with oil). It has the strong scent and taste that flaxseed oil is known for. As a face wash, it doesn’t rinse off as well as some oils (sunflower oil for instance), so if you don’t want to leave some oil on your face, you might want to double cleanse. I double cleansed to get sunscreen off my face, but then I applied a little extra oil because I’ve read that flaxseed oil is anti inflammatory. I’ve had no breakouts from using it this way and my skin feels soft! It comes with two different lidd to choose from (one is a pump), and I’m keeping my bottle in the fridge to help prevent it from going rancid.

Flaxseed (or linseed) oil is a fantastic oil that has so many purposes. It’s the traditional base for oil paints. It can be used to produce a soap that cleans wood. It is a great source of omega 3. And it can be used as a carrier oil for skincare.
One thing that it isn’t is long lasting. Flaxseed oil is a drying oil, which is why it is used in oil paints. It oxidizes (goes rancid) and gets gummy and hard over time when exposed to air. If you’re using it for skincare, adding some vitamin E or rosemary oleoresin may extend its shelf life without adding any “scary” chemicals. If you’re using it for soap, you can use EDTA salts or (gasp) BHT to extend its life and prevent orange spots. If you’re using it for paints, you might try to accelerate the drying process by adding Japan drier. However, if you’re consuming it, don’t add anything. Just refrigerate it and use it up quickly.
