This is my go to sleep aid. Love that it’s simple and doesn’t dress itself up to be something more fancy or scary than what it is. Simple DPH. Soft gels. Small size, easy to swallow. Tasteless, zero aftertaste. EXCELLENT value for money.
I am blessed to live in America, where it’s become obvious to me that NO-ONE here gets a natural good night’s sleep. Consequently, it’s gotten harder and harder to find plain ole DPH. Here, at 2 X 96 soft gels for $13.99, there really is no better value out there. Also, because it’s so hard to get, it’s nice to have the two-pack, so that you know once you’ve ordered it, you’re good to go for a while. I also far prefer the soft gels over the the pill and tablet forms of sleepaids that are available everywhere. I found the time other forms takes to kick in varies greatly from one product to the next. At least with this, I know that I can keep it on my bedside and take it when I’m actually ready to wind down. I don’t have to plan ahead and calculate what time I want to take it, based on what time I’m hoping to be falling asleep. I don’t believe it PUTS me to sleep. It ALLOWS me to fall asleep. If something came up that would require me to change my mind and not sleep, I would have no problem in staying awake after I take one of these. It certainly wouldn’t be a position where I was passing out and UNABLE to stay awake. If that’s what one is looking for in a sleepaid, you may be better off to let Fred Flintstone club you to sleep?
Above everything, after trying many OTC products over many many years (I have barely had a good nights rest since I was pregnant with my first child, who is now 23), I LOVE LOVE LOVE that this product does NOT give me any sort of foggy hangover. It does not in any way knock me out or make a zombie out of me. What it does is allow me to fall asleep when I’m wound down. I have no trouble now getting up to tinkle or get a drink of water from the kitchen, or any of my other night forays around the house (useless OCD missions like checking to make sure all lights are off and all doors are locked etc.). What it does allow me to do, is get up if necessary; do what I need to safely and consciously; and then I can head back to my bed and actually fall back asleep. If there were a middle of the night emergency, I could wake up fully and completely, without any haziness. I could focus. Drive if I want to. And I would be fine. What more could you possibly one want in a sleep aid?
I have an occasional house guest who takes heavy prescription meds. As entertaining as it makes her, it’s alarming to see someone stumbling and slurring amorously, cleaning my house at 2am, and eating every strange combination of sweet and savory foods from my pantry, all the while knowing that she will have ZERO recollection of any of her antics the following day. Then she would “fall asleep” (unconscious, really) so heavily and so suddenly that I honestly thought she was dead, save for her extremely labored breathing and gasping for air. I had to record her activities and show her a video the next day so she could see what those pills were doing to her. The only reason she was tending to believe me before she saw the video is because she was gaining weight steadily with all the very late night food binges. When she saw the video, she was mortified. A good nights sleep should never come with all that unnecessary drama. If I were her, on those pills, I would be so terrified to have those things kick in and do that to me, that I probably would simply never sleep again.
When I take this DPH on a normal night, I take only one. If I’m feeling unusually anxious or stressed, very very rarely, I take two. I am not, in any way, advocating anyone else do this. But I am very tall and sturdy, so I can stomach two if needed. It has never caused me side effects or any sort of stomach upset, also, which is a huge bonus. I’ve been blessed with a tough stomach, so I cannot fathom how tricky nighttime would be if in addition to insomnia, one also had an upset stomach. (On those nights, I imagine there would be zero rest for the weary.)
I do not take it every day. I can take it whenever I feel like I need to reset. Or I can go for days and days (weeks, even) without it. It causes no edginess if I don’t take it. Just helps me when I do. And that’s all I really ever need. Try it. And certainly, don’t lose any more sleep than you already have while trying to figure out if it’s right for you. 🙂

This is the same as what we were buying from Target for a fraction of the cost. Exact same ingredients. We take one and sleep all night. Highly recommend!
