I use the product for temporary back pain relief. The adhesion is a little stickier than my last order, but it works and stays in place if I put on a tee shirt. The scent is a little stronger than before but dissipates in a short time. Overall, a good buy.

These patches really work for me. Unfortunately, they no longer sell the Large stretchable patches that covered a large portion of the lower back. If placed correctly they adhere and stay in place on certain areas of the body. They may pop off with a lot of movement, however, so I use them at night.

I have a few “problem areas” in my aging body and have used Tiger Balm for a long time. I ordered the patches because the balm from the little jar gets under my nails and I have to wash carefully so as not to get it in my eyes (which I touch MUCH more often that I would have thought). I have a patch on a strained and very painful MCL (knee ligament). It’s working about as well as the balm, which is to say that it doesn’t stop the pain, but feels soothing. I also have one on a spot of paresthesia on my shoulder (“pins and needles” from a disc in the neck pressing on a nerve). The paresthesia in three places on my neck and back has been driving me insane! It’s very annoying and distracting. The patch seems to be very effective so far. (This may be the best application of the principle on which Tiger Balm works, which is to “confuse” the nerves.
There are five boxes in the order, each with plastic pouch inside that contains five pads. The pads are 4″ X 2-3/4″. They are a soft felt on the outside and a sticky gel substance on the other. The sticky side is covered with a very thin plastic film which is easy to remove. (They are also easy to cut into smaller pieces.) When applied, the gel feels very cool. The scent is similar to the Tiger Balm in the jar. Some people are put off by the smell, but I rather like it. Admittedly, it would make a strong competitor for perfume, but at a certain age, comfort simply trumps vanity.
I’m happy with the purchase. It’s not magic, but is a good addition to the arsenal of tools we use to cope with aging. I now understand that saying that “getting old isn’t for sissies.” 🙂

I am not going to just tell how great these are and how quick they arrived– because those kind of reviews do not help anyone but both of those statements are true. This is a great deal on a product that works. I have bought these 4 times now for post-surgical pain in my foot. I use two patches at a time, using paper tape to keep them in place around the ankle.
1. These patches do NOT heat up like other types of pain relieving patches, cream, ointment etc. These are not Salonpas, these are not Ben Gay, not Aspercreme, not Icy Hot, not Therma-anything and even like some of the OTHER Tiger Balm items.
— the above listed items (all of which I have tried) all “burn” my skin. I don’t find that to be helpful heat — I find it irritating and hurting!
If you are expecting the heat to be the thing that makes this product “work”…then don’t buy! They are not “old”, “ineffective” or “expired”. They just work differently!
2. These work quietly in the background, the capsicum, slowly absorbing into the skin to numb the nerve endings, providing relief. It’s not an insta-fix WOW… that’s hot and good and now I’m all better! It’s a slow burn of … WOW, I could walk all day long today with some discomfort but it is manageable.
I am astounded that this product works and it was a total stumble-upon at the Christmas Tree store when I found the first box. I literally threw it in my cart thinking “Gel… that’s different … ya…. okay: might as well try something else. Probably will add it to the box of DOES NOT DO A DARN THING.
I have no idea about chronic back pain, neck pain… any of that.. all I know is in my foot, where the nerves meet in the inside ankle area, these patches are a MIRACLE.
