I have been using this castor oil as a moisturizer at night on my face and my skin has been sooo soft and hydrated. I also used it on the ends of my hair to reduce split ends (we will see how that goes!). I don’t care too much for the smell (it smells like roasted coffee beans or toasted sesame oil). It’s not bad, but I think I will get their non-roasted Castor Oil next time. A little bit will go a long way! If you are using this for just your skin and hair, it will probably last almost a year. There are so many benefits to castor oil, and this one is such good quality. You won’t regret buying and using it! 🙂

Prior to seeing castor oil popping up all over Amazon, my familiarity with it was just that my grandparents always had a bottle of castor oil on a little shelf in their bathroom and that my favorite lip balm has a base of castor oil. Lately, I’ve been interested to use some of those old tried and true items my grandparents had, so I did a little research and ordered this bottle of black and gold castor oil blend. This particular oil by the Goodbye Company is quite thick — like a good Canadian maple syrup. To me it smells of sesame oil. The scent isn’t pleasant, but it’s not off putting either. This seems to really help with breakage at the ends of my hair. As the weather gets dry, so does my hair. A tiny bit of this castor oil in the ends every few days really seems to make a difference for me. I find, because of the thickness of the oil, that it is best to add a few drops to my palms and spread it out and warm it up by rubbing my hands together, and then spread it through my damp ends. I use it on occasion when my hair is dry (as opposed to wet) but it’s harder to work through. Either way, it seems to fully soak in within half an hour or so and does not leave my hair looking greasy. As a scalp oil, for me this really needs to be used before washing since it definitely leaves my hair looking greasy. I add this to other oils to apply to my face in the morning for intense hydration. I don’t have to leave the house for several hours after I wake up, so I have time for the half hour that it takes for the castor oil to really soak in. I also read that castor oil has antimicrobial properties, so I have no problem even applying this heavy oil right over blemishes. I would absolutely give this five stars if not for the cost. It’s a bit more expensive than other brands that appear to be comparable. That said, I expect this bottle to last a very long time, so I’m not entirely certain that the cost is that much of a factor as long as you can afford it up front. Castor oil can typically last at least a year once opened, and a lot of research suggests that cold pressed can last up to five years. I expect I may use this up in a year or so, despite the fact that I use it pretty often. It just takes so little.

This was the best Black Castor oil I’ve purchased in a long time. It was my 1st blend (Black & Gold oil) purchase, but the quality of product is top tier. The thickness, low odor and the care of it in the glass bottle shows that this product is 1st class. I used it as a hair growth treatment, as well as on my skin. Loved it in all its applications. Great price too.

I am so disappointed upon receiving this item because the bottle top was broken. I was afraid to use the product because of possible contamination.
Update: I was issued a second bottle ( after sending the first bottle back at cost using UPS) … that bottle had the same issue… a broken cap seal. Not returning… just won’t purchase this brand anymore.
