As a golfer, I find these Prochews to be a nice addition to the golf bag. They are small, lightweight, and tasty. The flavor is a subtle peppermint with just a hint of sweetness. The texture starts out firm and softens pretty quick, and while they are reminiscent of salt water taffy they don’t have that “stuck to your teeth” stickiness.
One Prochew offers 125mg of caffeine, usually enough to do the job. But I’ve been known to pop a second one if I really need a big pick-me-up.
Finally, I really like the fact they are made locally in Oregon with a simple, small list of ingredients.

10 straight days of camping, surfing, hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, claming, crabbing, and generally putting my 50 yr old body to the test. I can say, without a doubt, Prochew DELIVERS. And, in a unique and glorious fashion that just doesn’t compare with other sources of caffeine. The “slow burn” is perfect for a surf session, or any other motion-oriented activity where a sipping on a cup-o-joe just won’t do. I don’t like eating before I paddle out. I also don’t like being hungry out there. The appetite suppression, without the nervous stomach, is a major benefit. I found that the more active I was, the quicker the chew dissolved, which is perfect. I’d say, when I was in the salt water it took about 45 min to dissolve, and the effects lasted a good 3 hours – without a big spike or crash. When hiking, it was more like 90 min and like 4 hrs of “peppiness”. So, if you lead an active lifestyle or once in a while need powerful but gentle lift, get yourself some Prochew. You won’t be dissapointed.

I’ve been waiting to write this review until I give these an honest try in an extreme situation (I will soon, on a 10 day surf camp adventure, and will update my review). But, I couldn’t resist popping one the morning they arrived. First off, yum! Was expecting that bitter “caffeine flavor” but was surprised with pleasant peppermint, nothing bitter. Nice work on the flavor. Next, I was concerned that I’d just chomp down and go to town on the chewy thing, but was again surprised, as once I got it tucked in my cheek, that urge was easy to resist. It actually lasted more like 90 min.
Ok, now for the good part. You know how when you pound one of those energy drinks that tastes like skittles mixed with pennies and you feel that burn in your belly? Then, a bit later you feel all jittery and kinda wish you hadn’t just done that? I did not get that with these little chews. Something about that slow release that just sorta lifts you up gently and carries you along with joy. I’d say I felt it kick in within about 20 min, then crescendo about 2 hours later with a gentle landing a few hours after that, so like 4-5 hours of focus and productivity. Also, since it didn’t burn in my stomach, it actually satiated my appetite. Soooo much better than a Rockstar.
I did another test a few days later when I was feeling depleted in the morning, I bit one in half and just chewed up for a quick hit. Interestingly, that didn’t bother my stomach at all (perhaps the soothing peppermint helps) but it did provide a nice pick-me-up and a couple hours of focus.
Additionally, I appreciate the use of Xylitol as a sweetener, as it is actually beneficial to my teeth.
Ok, now for field testing these little wonders…. I’ll report back later in Aug.
