These are easy to toss in the dishwasher and run a cleaning cycle. If you have grimy build up in the bottom filter, this won’t totally clean that out, but it makes a major improvement in any smell.

We have well water and use Active to clean both our dishwasher and clothes washer. This product is superior to any other products we have tried over the years. Easy to use and very reasonably priced! I just tried their laundry detergent in a smelly load of my husbands work clothes along with my normal detergent and what usually still comes out somewhat smelly came out smelling fresh and clean! My dishwasher for years had a dead fish smell to all the dishes after a wash, even after a rinse. I finally took it apart, cleaned it, checked all the hoses, but it made no difference. I decided to do the 1 cup vinegar, that didn’t work so I tries 2 cups, that didn’t work. I then tried the baking soda spread all over the inside. That worked for one wash. After almost giving up I tried Dishwasher Cleaner and Deodorizer Tablets having no hope left. Low and behold it worked! I use it only once a month now and my dishwasher looks great and smells great now. Oh yea…I tried all the OTC products also with no change, but this really works!

these work really well to remove odors, debris, & anything stained. i usually add baking soda as well, just to get an extra shine. i use this 2-3 times a month, depending how stinky my fiancé makes the dishwasher (with his spicy food). definitely not disappointed! have been using them for almost a year!

At this point I have a huge selection of Active brand cleaning products: Garbage Disposal Cleaner, Dishwasher Cleaner, Washing Machine cleaner, Mold remover, and Laundry sheets. I am a HUGE fan of this brand’s products. Every single one does the job exactly as described and leaves my appliances feeling cleaner, shinier, deodorized, and fresh. I enthusiastically recommend these to friends and family.
I love this dishwasher cleaner – every time my dishwasher is looking dingy I do a cycle with this and it looks shiny fresh and smells great.

So, in all fairness, my dishwasher installation is a bit different: 1) I have dishwasher drawers, which makes them half the size of a regular dishwasher; 2) When I use a dishwasher tab, I usually only use half a tab per dishwasher; 3) My drawers do not automatically remove food scraps and dispose of them, I manually remove the filter and clean it; 4) I have soft water. While most people buy these products to remove lime, I was using it to remove grime. I followed the online instructions and cleaned the filter manually before starting the process. I placed the full tablet (as they advise against breaking in half) in the detergent dispenser, started the machine, and opened it to air dry. The dishwasher started leaking pretty quickly and continuously throughout the process. When I opened it, it was full of suds. The water on the floor in the picture is a small amount because I had to keep cleaning it up. Fortunately, I have stained concrete floors, so I wasn’t concerned about ruining them. Given the high reviews of this product, I believe that my situation was likely different from what is normal, or they have changed the formula. I cannot fully recommend the product under the circumstances. I have not re-tried my dishwasher to see if it is now broken. Perhaps a seal needs to be replaced. However, I think the company should conduct more research to address these issues.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this product. Our dishwasher had this prevailing funky smell that left me questioning our decision to forego the sink pre-wash before loading individual items. In addition, everything had spots: glassware, plastic, ceramic, and so on. I couldn’t tell where the funk was emanating, and it became a hygiene issue.
In general, I love enzyme cleaners. The idea that you’re working with nature, instead of against it, appeals to me. After a quick Internet search, I found Active. They provide videos to ensure you’re not only using the product correctly, but precleaning the dishwasher filter the right way. Afterwards, it was like we had a new dishwasher. No spots. No smell. No gunk or suspicious floating bits.
Recently, the “Rinse Agent” light turned on, and my husband felt that we should buy some. We have, though I don’t see how the dishes can get any cleaner than they were and are after using this Dishwasher Cleaner.
