While I like several of Swolverine’s other products (whey isolate, carb powder), this collagen is a big miss. While it’s nice that it comes in such a small container with a small scooper (yay, less plastic waste!), it’s really a bear to dissolve.
I have an under-counter reverse osmosis setup that has a spigot that provides room-temperature water. This water is basically distilled, so it should dissolve just about anything and fast. If you add the collagen to a glass of room-temperature water, it immediately clumps on top and just sits at the top of the water. When you attempt to stir it in, it clumps worse and gets super sticky.
If you’re not planning to either use a blender (to put this collagen powder into something else) or dissolve it into a hot substance (oatmeal, tea/coffee, whatever), be prepared to wait quite a long time for everything to dissolve, and for there still to be a sticky mess in your glass or something. It takes many minutes (at least 5) for most of everything to dissolve. And it’s still not great.
I’ll probably relegate this collagen for blender-shake use only and switch back to a different brand. If you want a recommendation, the Sports Research product is what I have been using for quite some time, and it dissolves perfectly at room temperature with no residue, clumping, or mess.
I’d be happy for Swolverine to reformulate and earn more stars. But, for now, this is a 2 at best.
It doesn’t have any taste/flavor, so it does have that going for it.
