These tablets, like Fizzies before them, turn plain water into carbonated flavored fun. But unlike Fizzies, these aren’t just sugar. These contain a hefty dose of vitamin C. In fact, each table contains 1000mg of vitamin C, which is more than 10x the standard amount one might get in a normal balanced diet. There are a bunch of studies that suggest large doses of vitamin C can help your health (and help you get over a cold or other illness), though the definitive study hasn’t emerged.
They taste pretty good. The flavor is strawberry, and they certainly taste like what you might expect a strawberry Fizzie drink might taste like. They have 38 calories per tablet, so they’re not entirely a perfect diet food, but the calorie count isn’t bad. The calories come from maltodextrin, which is used as a sweetener. If you don’t like or can’t tolerate maltodextrin, these, obviously, aren’t for you. There’s also sorbitol and sucralose to boost the sweetness.
