Was surprised at my gains from weight lifting … At 53 it helps me gain faster than I did in my 20s. Yes, it also increased libido but that’s never been a problem for me and in fact I wish it didn’t do that. Also I did not notice an energy boost, but that’s not generally a problem for me. As a supplement it gets slammed at bodybuilding.com forums by people who’ve never tried it as if eating eyeballs improves eyesight, but testes are glands that produce testosterone so it only stands to reason there will be residual cofactors that aid in the production of testosterone. Frankly seems far more safe avenue to increase testosterone than anything else, including herbs which are really just drugs. Orchic is a food item and as Hippocrates said “let food be thy medicine”.

Will make you smell bad. Hard to put my finger on what it smells like, but it’s just bad. So You may need to shower 2x daily while using it. I only use it when I’m trying to gain muscle, which I do in phases.

I don’t know if the recommended dose works because I didn’t do it. I instead bought 3-4 bottles and took 3 a day so I can try for 30 days and it works. I took bioperene/astragin supplements for bioavailability along with taking them with “food”. More aggression, more gains, improved sex drive, asserted more dominance in daily life, better pumps, and other things. Already have higher T but noticed real effects. I chew the tablets while eating.
Sometimes would take 6 a day and take them throughout the day like every hour or 2.

I’m 68 years young and suffering from low T and low energy and other various “male problems” that go along with it. I was looking for something to boost my total serum testosterone concentration and libido and had previously tried several herbal supplements that promised to do this. They either did nothing or made me sick. I needed something different that, hopefully, would work.
Then I began reading about how glandular products could “repair and rejuvenate” one’s internal organs and, particularly, how an extract made from bull testes could have a dramatic effect in terms of boosting total serum T, libido, and reversing ED. Sounded like exactly what my body needs and I eventually wound up here and reading all of the reviews for Swanson’s “Raw Orchic Glandular Testicular Substance”. The reviews were mostly favorable for it and some said it was so powerful that you only needed one tablet per day!
The single bottle of tablets, with postage, cost me close to $15 USD and that was for 30 tablets which is a month’s supply if taking the suggested daily “serving” of one tablet per day. A bit expensive, but I figured it would be worth it if it worked as well as the five star rave reviews said it would.
My bottle arrived quickly and I was surprised at how small it was. The photo of the bottle makes it look big, but it’s only about 2.5 inches high and the size of those small trial size bottles for various medications. The bottle was packed right to the top with the tablets which are large rough ones that crumble easily. I cannot swallow pills without them sticking in my throat so I have to chew my vitamins to get them down. I decided to take half an orchic tablet twice a day. One half at breakfast and the other half at dinner. The taste of the tablets, when chewed, is bad…really bad. You can minimize it by having your mouth filled with a beverage as you chew it to wash it away from your tongue.
The first day passed and I had had my first tablet. Other than a bad taste in my mouth, I noticed no change. I figured it would take a day or two to “kick in”. Then a second day, a third, and finally a week passed and…absolutely nothing! I took the tablets for an entire month and noticed no change in energy or libido and any time. I’ve given this supplement a one star rating because of its complete ineffectiveness, not because of the quality of the product which I suppose is good.
So why no effect? After doing some research, I found out that one theory of how this supplement works is that an orchic tablet, made from uncooked, dried bull testicles, is high in LH or lutenizing hormone and it is identical to the same pituitary hormone in the human body which is secreted in response to a drop in total serum testosterone concentration and then reaches a male’s testes and triggers special cells in them, known as “Leydig cells”, to begin producing and releasing testosterone into his blood stream. Most likely, some of the LH in the raw orchic manages to survive the digestion process and can also make its way into the user’s blood and eventually to his testes to produce the same effect which is to make them manufacture extra testosterone that causes his total serum testosterone concentration to rise. This effect is the reason why the orchic supplements were so popular with bodybuilders before the synthetic anabolic steroids came along in the early ’60’s. They knew the extra testosterone production triggered by the orchic was helping them to grow their muscles.
However, all of this assumes that a male’s testes will respond to the LH in the orchic supplement. That might, indeed, happen for a younger male. But, as a male ages, he can experience a lot of atrophy in his testes and a big decrease in the number of their Leydig cells and, as a result, he will not have a good response to the orchic supplement. I noticed that some of the positive reviews for this supplement were from younger males. Based on my negative experience with it, I doubt if it would benefit a guy over, perhaps, 55 years of age unless his testes were still in fairly good condition. Unfortunately, if an older male is looking for more energy and libido, then, he probably already has a lot of testicular atrophy and this supplement would not help him that much. If an older guy tries this, like I did, and it turns into a waste of money, then I’d recommend he stop chasing various “natural” supplements and get himself to a competent medical doctor and have his hormone levels checked with a blood test. If his total serum testosterone is low (like below 300 ng/dL of blood), then he needs to consider trying TRT or testosterone replacement therapy. That is a proven therapy and it will get him the results he is seeking fairly quickly.
