This is a very strong anti-inflammatory supplement. I’ve used UltraCur curcumin in the past, and it is one of the most bioavailable curcumin formulations on the market. They used to claim something like “Up to 14,000 times the bioavailability of standard Curcumin, and 10 times the bioavailability of nano-particle preparations.” They don’t seem to claim this anymore on their pages, so perhaps their testing methods have changed – but regardless, the science stands and Ultracur is an extremely high bioavailability curcumin.

This formulation improves over the standard Ultracur for inflammation in some ways, but not every way:

    1) It uses UltraCur-Pro, which is bound to NAC. It has “4X More Curcumin per capsule than our Original UltraCür”. So even though the dosage is a good bit lower in this supplement (350mg) vs the UltraCur Original (1500mg), you are actually getting more curcumin in this product because it is 4x the amount of the previous formulation.

    2) This combines boswellia. Unfortunately this product doesn’t use a standardized extract of boswellia, just full-spectrum, which is much weaker. It really should be 60%+ boswellic acids to ensure efficacy. Boswellia is a very potent anti-inflammatory and works synergistically with curcumin, but 100mg of whole (not extract) boswellia probably isn’t enough to offer many benefits.

    3) Small amount of Devil’s Claw complex, which I assume is highly bioavailable as well. This anti-inflammatory herb is much less widely known than curcumin and boswellia, but clinical trials seem to indicate it is indeed effective for arthritis and pain symptoms – so adding a highly bioavailable form to this product seems like a smart decision.

    Thoughts:
Overall, it’s a great formulation, and works very well for pain relief and inflammation. This product is much better than your standard curcumin+piperine supplement. But the formulation could be a bit better. It’s disappointing that they decided to go with full-spectrum boswellia instead of an extract or some special high-bioavailability form. So basically, this product is a blend of two very well studied and effective anti-inflammatory herbs: curcumin + devil’s claw. Is it better than their Original UltraCur supplement for pain relief? I’m not sure, but it works well for me, and is worth a try.

All that being said – UltraCur still hasn’t been clinically studied to the extent of other popular curcumin forms. There are many curcumin formulations out their that have gone through multiple clinical trials proving their bioavailability and efficacy for pain relief and inflammation (Meriva, Longvida, BCM-95, etc). While UltraCur is definitely a great curcumin supplement – it really still needs to go through the wringer and have its efficacy tested and proven in a clinical setting.

Bought this on my cousins device and it was a good one. Has helped with my lower back pain and arthritis greatly.

As a runner, I’ve been using curcumin to fight inflammation since long before the supplement went mainstream following use within the autism community. The main thing to watch for is whether the turmeric for a given curcumin supplement is standardized to contain 95% curcuminoids. A couple months ago, for example, I tried Earth Echo Superfood Bliss, a “turmeric and superfood elixir blend”, which provides 500mg of “organic turmeric root” per serving, but since it’s not standardized on its curcumin content there’s no way to know what you’re getting. This product doesn’t claim to follow the standard, but still costs significantly more than other brands I’ve used in the past such as Now and Jarrow Formulas. As mentioned by the product description here, UltraCür Advanced instead provides the differentiator of a “protein scaffold saturated with curcumin molecules [to] allow the curcumin to be shuttled into circulation the same way that all proteins are digested and absorbed”, and in addition to curcumin also contains boswella and devil’s claw to fight inflammation. My big hangup on this product, however, is that not even the website explains what “NAC” is intended to mean for “UltraCür-Pro NAC” or “Ultra Claw NAC – Devil’s Claw Complex.” When I originally ordered this product, I had assumed it meant “N-acetyl cysteine”, which I’ve used in the past, but why isn’t this just spelled out in the product description here, the product labeling, or the website? My assumption is apparently correct according to the Q&A here, but why resort to the Q&A to address a very basic aspect of this product? The entity addressing this aspect is the seller, UltraBotanica, but is this the company that actually produces UltraCür Advanced, or some other entity? After all, the Amazon store which sells this product is labeled “UltraCür”, *not* “UltraBotanica”. An asterisk should be minimally used in the supplement facts to explicitly indicate that this isn’t a proprietary ingredient (after all, much of what is contained in this product is proprietary). While I can’t dispute the claims made for this product, what I can say is that I haven’t experienced any difference when using this product relative to other comparable products, and so for me the high cost isn’t justified when not even knowing what I’m consuming. All of this said, it’s good to (presumably) see “N-acetyl cysteine” as an ingredient here, as NAC has been curiously quite difficult to find on Amazon shelves these days, possibly due to pharmaceutical firms feeling threatened by it as an effective supplement.

I use this everyday for inflammation in my knees and nerve pain in my feet. What I liked about this product was it didn’t take that long to start working. I’m the biggest skeptical about new products but, my orthopedic doctor recommended it. Give it a try it’s well worth the effort and money.

Ultracur isn’t the only brand I use for inflammation support, but it is a formula that has an interesting background. Ultra Botanica utilizes their patent pending UltraCur technology to complex standardized curcumin with a scaffold, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). This allows curcumin to be better absorbed and more quickly interact with body cells. I ordered this particular formula because it also contains Boswellia and Devil’s Claw, which also utilizes LPS™ (liquid protein scaffold) technology. I’ve used all three of these supplements in the past with good results, and find it’s much more effective than glucosamine chondroitin, which doesn’t work at all for me. The fact that they’re more readily absorbed gives this formula an added advantage.
