At first, I was surprised to have opened the bottle to capsules that provided Omega 3 in a powder form. I had never tried Omega 3 in a powdered form, or in a capsule. Not very convincing at first.
The serving size is 4 capsules and there are a total of 120 capsules, which makes it 30 servings per container. On the label it shows “Amount Per Capsule” = Calories: 16mg, Calories From Fat: 16mg, Total Fat: 2g, Total Omega 3: 1600mg, DHA: 800mg, EPA: 160mg. I have never seen calories measured in “mg,” which makes this product labeling very questionable. Not only that but the “Amount Per Capsule” (all that is stated above), it makes more sense if it would say “Amount per Serving,” then again I am not sure if it is a typo or if it really is what it says due to the questionable Calories in mg?
Another thing is that it advertises A Lot on “fish-free”, “burp-free experience”, “goodbye to fishy aftertaste”, “eliminate the risk of unpleasant burps”, and more. It is a Vegan Omega 3 but it has by far been the MOST and STRONGEST “fishy burps” I have ever had All day! Of course it is not fish but it taste so strong like algae that it almost feels like you are eating and burping fish. I am not vegan, I love fish and I did not like this marine aftertaste this product gave me.
I don’t really trust this product and all of its contents are very questionable due to the labeling and inconsistencies. With this many inconsistencies I don’t even know if I want to continue taking this. I would not repurchase at all.

I am not the biggest fish fan, but I do know I could benefit from the Omega 3 oil they contain. I had been taking traditional supplements, but they strongly smell and taste like fish. They can also cause fishy smelling burping. So, I started to look into alternatives and this plant based version by VITAGENIX seemed like a good option. It is made from the algae that the fish consume to get the Omega to begin with. These still smell and taste a bit fishy from the algae, but I have had fewer side effects such as gas. They are made clean in the US and are vegan. I thought these were a good bargain because there are 120 in the bottle, but the dosage is four a day, so this is just a one month’s supply. So far, they are working for me so I will continue with them.

Even though I am not a vegan , I feel really good about getting valuable DHA and EPA nourishment from a vegan source . Marine algae is a cruelty-free source of Omegas .
Using marine algae capsules seems to agree with me more than fish oil does ; there are no fishy burps with this product. Plus, if I put the product right under my nose and inhale I can smell the ocean.

I’m fine with using this Omega-3 supplement from Vitagenix. I’ve been using fish oil supplements for years now and figured I could test out these vegan capsules too. These supplements use vegan capsules and marine algae for the omega-3 content.
My prior supplements gave nutrition facts based on 1 softgel with 250 mg of (EPA+DHA) and these Vitagenix pills of approximately the same size provide stats based on 4 pills, that can be divided down to a single pill providing a similar 240 mg of EPA+DHA. My bottle had a best by date over 2 years into the future, which seems like a pretty good shelf life to me.
The capsules do seem to have residues of the inner supplement on the outside that contributes to an algal/marine odor and flavor. While swallowing the pills, you get a stronger flavor than the fish oil capsules I’m used to. If you enjoy nori/fumikake seasonings then the marine odors are more palatable, but I would regard fish oil and these supplements as both things you don’t enjoy taking based on the taste.

This is a fish-free Omega 3 supplement with a daily recommended dose of 4 capsules. That number of capsules significantly increases the daily pill burden and could be a problem for people who struggle to swallow supplements. Each bottle contains a 30-day supply. The capsules have a strong seaweed smell and taste which lingered. I had to make sure to take them with a meal. I hoped they would be a more palatable form of Omega 3s than my usual fish oil supplement, but they have their own seafood odor and aftertaste. I think I’ll stick with my regular, more affordable brand.

Labeling for dosage is strange and not fully trustworthy on this one in my opinion. I’ve sampled and taken 100s of different supplements and I usually have a pretty high risk tolerance for sampling things but I was a bit concerned here. The listing of calories in mg on the side of a supplement bottle throws me off and I’m not sure if it is completely mislabeled and supposed to be listing the mg of one of the active ingredients instead.
It’s in dry capsules instead of gel caps and actually had more of a fish odor and taste than usual for gel cap omega 3 when it is supposed to be less. I’m not sure if this is actually plant based like it says but it sure tastes and smells like fish.
The packaging arrived well sealed with tamper seals. Caps were all intact. Some odor and taste but not excessive if the slight fish smell doesn’t bother you.

I am not a vegan, but I read some articles that vegan omega is as effective as fish omega (even though I remain skeptical of all new studies and articles). And I thought this could be better because it won’t have a fishy smell or aftertaste later on. As expected, this one delivered all the benefits without the fishy smell. By the way, I only claim it’s effective because I didn’t experience any withdrawal symptoms from changing from my regular fish omega-3 to this one until I finished the bottle.
I still have another bottle left of the one I’ve been taking, so after that, I am thinking about coming back to this one.
