The previous holistic D.O. my APRN wife worked for would only recommend Life Extension vitamins. He was supremely confident that the company delivers the highest quality product and that the ingredients are exactly as specified. Since I was recently put on a statin to help lower my cholesterol my primary care physician told me to add COQ10 as a supplement. Statins commonly have side effects of muscle pain and weakness, both of which I observed.
Your body naturally produces COQ10 but it turns out that as you age your body produces less and less of it. So your options going forward are to either take a convenient supplement or to eat more oily fish, organ meats, or specific whole grains. Since I am not a fan of oily fish or beef liver, this supplement was my choice.
Researchers published a study in the American Journal of Cardiology in 2007 that indicated that COQ10 seems to decrease muscle breakdown and reduce pain and discomfort for people taking statins. It certainly works for me. There are many reasons why COQ10 can be beneficial to your particular situation and I would encourage you to research it and talk to your physician about any benefits available to you.

As I’ve mentioned in other reviews I like this brand. I like the shape and the feel of the capsules. And I think you have to take CoQ10 for a long time before you can really sense the difference it makes. It has to build up in your body. But I’ve used it several years ago and I have confidence. Normally, I don’t pay much attention to a few negative reviews because there’s a lot of negative people. However I just ordered this product today and received it and I don’t even think I can get one or two of the capsules unstuck from each other and if I do, they’ll probably break open. Not sure what I’m gonna do with these, but it was a lot of money down the drain
Edit I put them in the fridge and managed to manipulate them apart. However, something made me doubt the quality. I cut open two of them and it was like black motor oil which could be the shilajit based on what I read but the capsules barely have anything in them and I’m wondering if there really is CoQ10 and if so, how much. Think I’m going to toss these and call it a loss. Amazon really needs to protect us against bad quality products. As a side note, these have not expired but must have been left out in the sun or something not normal. I picked them up at my door the minute the driver drove away.
