Having had recurrent (if not chronic) GI issues for a couple of decades, I looked at this and thought ‘maybe this could help’. Well, relocating household after 21 years in one location has interfered with regular dosing, and twice a day hasn’t occurred even once.
As might be expected, I can’t report much in the way of improvement after using it at half – or even 1/4 dosing (often only 1 capsule in the A.M.) perhaps I can try taking full doses with the second half of a bottle, once our move is nearing completion inSeptember or thereabouts. IF it helps I an update this later.
IMO, this seems to be a very complete formula, and the price reflects that. Even if taking full doses helped me a lot, $50/month is not in my budget for regular use 🙁

I’ve been dealing with chronic health problems, including digestive issues for decades. After some gut health testing, my PCP recommended that I take butyrate.
Normally, I get moderate to severe abdominal pain every time I eat, so I was only able to eat a few bites at a time. Due to this, I’m severely underweight. I’ve been taking this supplement for three weeks, and started to notice a difference in how I feel, this last week.
I’ve been able to eat more, and my abdominal pain isn’t nearly as bad. I also have a little more energy, and improved sleep. Because of my low weight, I only take one capsule with breakfast, and one with dinner.
This supplement has been amazing for me. I like that it also contains shilajit extract, aloe vera, and pro/postbiotics, as these are all helpful for gut and overall health.
The only downside is that, I usually like to make sure that the supplements I take are made in a GMP-certified facility, and third-party lab tested. However, this brand has been around for a long time, seems to be reputable, and their products are non-GMO, and made in the USA. They don’t contain any unnecessary ingredients or fillers, but best of all, this supplement has been more helpful for me than any others that I’ve tried.

I feel like there are the same type of pills out there that aren’t requiring you to take 4 a day. The bottle comes with 30 days worth like others, but 2 in the morn and 2 at night is a bit annoying. I’m used to 1 pill a day, but that is also just a pure probiotic and I’m no scientist, so who knows. Maybe the 4 a day is required for all the other stuff these contain. The price is also a punch in the wallet.

No odor, easy on the stomach. Have taken half dose for about a week, two caps in the morning only as that would be my one complaint that dose size is too large. Have noticed improved digestion and better sleep!

This bottle comes about 75% full, which isn’t bad nowadays.
If used as directed it will last one month (two capsules, two times per day).
The “best by” date on mine is Nov 2026, so a little more than 2.5 years from now.
The capsules have a very light scent that is not unpleasant. The taste is only a bit stronger and is more… “medicinal,” for lack of a better word. These average-size capsules are easy to swallow with water, and have no aftertaste.
I like my supplement bottles to say organic, non-GMO, GMP-certified, 3rd-party tested, and Made in USA. This says none of those. The product page says non-GMO.
I am extra cautious with supplement companies because I have come across so many shady ones lately. This one has an address, a working phone number, and a lot of information on their returnhealthy site, such as about where their products are manufactured: “Return Healthy supplements are manufactured here in the USA. We use a number of different companies to ensure top quality and delivery of products. Most of our products are manufactured in the Portland, Oregon area.”
I seem to take longer than most to see results when starting a new supplement, but I like the ingredients (even the “Other ingredients” – that almost never happens!), and I am giddy about finding such a good, verified company with good products. The price is high, but for what it purports to help with, such as leaky gut, and for the peace of mind about the company, those are worth at least a little bit of that.

This product definitely comes with a higher price tag, but appears to more than make up for it in its ingredient make up. Going by the label, this appears to be one of the most thorough products in this class, ingredient-wise, that I’ve found, and I am a big advocate and regular user of supplements.
As a longtime user of NAC and other supplements that seek to improve gut health and overall liver performance, I had heard of Double Butyrate, but never tried it. With such a complete ingredient list, I figured this was probably my best chance at trying out a quality product.
Of course, the effects of supplements will vary for everyone, and often take some time for full effect, but I do feel as though my gut health is in great shape after taking these for a few weeks. As part of a much larger new supplement regiment, it’s impossible for me to attribute my feeling good 100% to this product, but I do feel that it is helping.
As far as the capsules themselves, they aren’t terribly big or difficult to swallow. I will say taking four of them a day is a little inconvenient, but I trust that a.m. and p.m. dosing does help it remain at consistent levels in your system, thereby likely increasing efficacy. There is no taste, nor aftertaste, which is great. Upon first opening the (super-well sealed) bottle, there is a bit of a strong earthy smell (right at the top of the bottle) that fades relatively quickly. I wouldn’t say it’s enough to be a negative at all.
All in all, this product appears to be one of the best supplements in its class, and one I’m looking forward to taking for at least a few months. Definitely worth a shot for anyone concerned about gut/liver health or just wanting to improve their overall health and wellbeing!

The capsules are easy to swallow, no odd taste or odor and I have noticed some positive results. The price seems a bit high though given that the dosage is 4 capsules.
