While in our reviews we are not suppose to comment on packaging, here it is essential to the review of the product: the bottle it arrived in leaked. There is no carton box – you just get a plastic bottle – and it has “sealed for your protection” sticker on the inside. Well, that seal must have gotten loose, because while it was still attached, it was loose in a couple of places. The product leaked, staining other products that were in the same box as this one.
Also, because it was not fully sealed when I received it, I was apprehensive to use it. So I tried it just to write a review for the taste (and then spit it out). It does not taste bad, actually, and if added to other liquids, such as tea or coffee, would not be noticeable at all. Has a pronounced orange color (as expected with iron), so be careful not to stain light-colored items. A liquid is a very good way to use iron, and I was looking forward to using this product, but am now apprehensive about ordering another bottle, so will have to look for a similar one.

I’m naturally anemic, I cannot speak to Horbäach’s effectiveness as of yet. What I can say is the price point is reasonable and it tastes & smells excellent in comparison to the German brand “Floradix” by Salus, which has a fair flavor profile to begin with. I love that Horbäach is strictly iron with very limited ingredients. I say this because most brands love to mix in other vitamins.
Horbäach provides 18mg of “Ferric” glycinate per 15mL. I prefer ferrous over ferric. While Floradix has been good to me, it does contain B12 as cyanocobalamin (rather not) and ferrous “Gluconate”. Preferably, I’d like “Ferrous Glycinate” as the primary compound.
A few disappointments with Horbäach that will hopefully result in future change, or at the very least offer an alternative option.
The first being this product does not come in a glass bottle. (Floradix is one of the few liquid irons that does). Glass plays a key role in my decision making.
I do not like that Horbäach (and Floradix) ingredients contain unmentioned “natural flavors”, nor do I like that Horbäach uses Ferric (Fe3+), instead of Ferrous (Fe2+).
My other qualm is their advertisement photos are purposely manicured. One can discuss lighting & photography all day, but when it’s all said and done this company knows what their finished product looks like.
Will I buy again? I don’t know. It’s too early to tell honestly. If I come back here to purchase a second bottle, I will update this review. (If I remember).
Note: This product was purchased in early-mid December of 2024 for $9.99. The size of the bottle is 16oz/473ml. The product in the advertisement is shown as a ‘clear light orange-gold’ liquid. Upon arrival, it’s an ‘opaque deep rustic orange-red’. This makes me question if this is a storage/transfer/temperature issue or if this is an over-the-top photoshop issue?

I started using it after feeling a bit sluggish for a while and realizing my iron levels were probably lower than they should be. From the first day I tried it, I noticed a difference. The liquid form makes it so much easier to take than pills, especially since I always had trouble with swallowing tablets. The taste is a little earthy, but nothing too overpowering, and it’s not like the typical artificial flavors you get with other supplements. I appreciate that it’s vegan and vegetarian-friendly, as I follow a plant-based diet and always look for products that align with that. It’s also nice knowing it’s non-GMO and gluten-free, which is something I try to avoid in all my products, especially when it comes to things I’m putting into my body. The bottle is easy to use, and the 16 fl oz size lasts a while, so I feel like I’m getting good value for the money. I’ve been using it for about three weeks now, and I can definitely say that I have more energy and feel less fatigued during the day. Before starting, I would get tired around midday and need a nap, but that’s not happening anymore. I can tell that the iron is being absorbed better, and I’m not feeling as sluggish as I used to. As for the ingredients, I like how simple it is, with no weird additives or fillers. It’s just straightforward and does its job well. I think it’s a great choice for anyone who’s looking for a clean, easy-to-take iron supplement that actually works. One thing to note is that it’s important to follow the recommended dosage. I initially tried to take a little more, thinking I could speed up the process, but I quickly realized that it’s better to stick to the suggested amount to avoid any digestive issues. The absorption is great, and I haven’t experienced any negative side effects, which can sometimes happen with other iron supplements. I did a bit of research before purchasing it, and I liked that it had positive reviews from other users, especially those who have similar dietary preferences. It’s also been great for keeping my iron levels in check, and after a blood test, I can confirm that it’s making a difference. I had been dealing with low iron for a while, and since incorporating it into my daily routine, my levels have significantly improved. It’s definitely helped me feel better overall, and I’ve noticed my mood has lifted as well, which is a big bonus. One small downside is the slight aftertaste that lingers for a few minutes, but it’s really not a big deal, and I’ve gotten used to it. It doesn’t bother me enough to stop using it, and I feel like the benefits far outweigh this minor issue. The price is reasonable for the size and the quality of the ingredients, so it’s definitely worth it. I also love that it’s cruelty-free and environmentally conscious. For anyone who struggles with low iron, I would highly recommend it. It’s been a simple but effective addition to my routine, and I’m glad I made the switch to liquid. It’s far more convenient than other iron supplements I’ve tried, and the results speak for themselves. I would say this is a solid option for anyone looking to boost their iron levels without having to deal with the hassle of pills or capsules.

This is my first time trying a liquid iron supplement, and I was naturally pretty skeptical and nervous about the taste. However, I’m pretty pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t taste super strong, and I could easily take it on its own if I needed to. Mixing it with a bit of apple juice in the morning has made it pretty palatable, and it doesn’t really leave any noticeable aftertaste. I’m impressed! I’ve also noticed a lot less of the negative side effects of taking iron tablets – if you know, you know.

Tastes so good, I had to remind myself it was for my girlfriend. I felt the boost of energy, and I’ve seen the impact 1 bottle has had on my girlfriend. Good sized bottle and a great price.
