This company specializes in supplements that improve a person’s mood. The founder is the son of the late Robin Williams who started this company when he had difficulties over his father’s death. This supplement is marketed as a Vitamin B Complex blend that provides other vitamins such as D, Zinc and Chromium. Together they provide good mood support, improves cognitive function, focus and energy. I have taken them separately and find it easier to take one capsule. They capsules are easy to take and leave no after taste. So far I am in a good start of mind so hopefully this supplement will keep it that way.

I like this PYM Mood B Complete because it has the B vitamins and also the D, calcium, zinc and chromium I need, too, so I can take less. The capsules are small and easy to swallow and I don’t taste anything. I’ll definitely order again.

PYM, Prepare Your Mind, is a brand founded by the son of actor Robin Williams to help provide natural, science backed supplements that can support mental well being.
The bottle is made of glass. It’s sized perfectly to hold the contents, with no wasted space or materials. This particular supplement is a basically B vitamin complex with zinc, vitamin D and chromium added in. It contains B1 (thiamine), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folate) and B12 (methylcobalamin) in fairly high methylated doses. Methylated = active, in that the body needs to do nothing to make the vitamin usable, making it more bioavailable. There are numerous studies that support the claims of B vitamins helping to boost mood and cognitive function. I’ve only been taking this for about a week and can’t definitively say if it’s improved my mood over my normal B supplement (Garden of LIfe). However, the claims are based in science, and it does at the very least provide a much needed energy boost.

I normally supplement with Thorne’s Basic B-Complex but decided to give this a try for the past few weeks and think it’s an excellent B-complex.
Why do you want a B-complex? In simple terms, it helps you stay calm when dealing with stress and anxiety. When you are deficient in B vitamins and you are really anxious or stressed out, you may have a difficult time handling those episodes. In many cases, it can simply be you’re just nutrient deficient and that is throwing your ability to deal with the stress off.
I think it’s not a coincidence that PYM labeled this B-complex as “Mood” since I find a difference in my overall mood and sense of calm when I am not taking a B-complex.
Switching from Thorne’s to PYM’s I did not experience any shift in my mood. I also thought it was good to test during the holiday season since that is usually when I am most stressed out.
What I noticed immediately in this formulation is it includes Vitamin D — so if you’re already supplementing with D or D-3 be aware of that.
I also noticed that they added Zinc to the B-complex and I thought that was a smart add. My guess is they added Zinc because B6 and zinc are both needed for the production of pancreatic enzymes and hydrochloric acid, so if you have low stomach acid / poor digestion, this may help.
Price wise this is comparable to other good B-complex out there.
PYM makes it a point to tell you this is Methylated which means you’re getting a more active form of B vitamins. You’d be surprised how many manufacturers don’t think or care about using the active form and just put the cheapest ingredients in the capsule they can.
I think this is a well-made B-complex with some added bonuses in it like D, Zinc, and Chromium. If you are already supplementing with those vitamins please check your dosages and be aware of how much you’re consuming. Zinc, for instance, can deplete copper so you usually want to make sure you’re getting some copper while you supplement with Zinc. That’s probably my one criticism of this complex — if you’re going to put 11mg of Zinc in it, you should have added 1mg of Copper.

A very nice quality little jar of supplements, with unscented and also tiny little easy to swallow capsules. According to the bottle, selling points include: provides mood support, improves cognitive function, focus and energy.
In comparison, here are the actual ingredients with respective benefits pertaining to mood:
• vitamin B6 – essential for every day mental function, reduces risk of depression and poor mood
• Vitamin B12 – regulates mood, promotes mental sharpness/alertness/concentration, prevents mental loss
• vitamin D – regulates hormones which impacts stress and improves mood, increases serotonin which aids depression and anxiety
• Zinc -aids anxiety and depression, boosts cognitive function
• B1 (Thiamin) – improves memory, maintains Brain function, supports positive mood
• B3 (Niacin) – Reduces depression, apathy, anxiety, Memory loss, etc
• Folate – Synthesizes dopamine And serotonin to prevent depression and anxiety
• B5 (pantotheric acid) – helps feel more relaxed and reduces anxiety
• Chromium – aids in production of serotonin and norepinephrine, which combat depression
So the more I look into this the more I realize this capsule is packed with depression and mood improving vitamins and minerals. I take some of these separately but not all of them, and by the looks of it I need to take all of them. So all together I’m very happy with this supplement.
Typically for pills with multiple ingredients, the daily value is sacrificed. But that’s not the case here as all ingredients are exceeding the daily value except niacin and chromium, but even those aren’t far off.
My only concern is the price point, it’s a bit more expensive than I’d like to pay per pill. That said by taking this, it would eliminate other vitamins in rotation so that can offset the cost.
