Update 4/6/24: didn’t see any improvement so we stopped buying.
Good gravy this stuff stinks. Almost as bad as valerian root. It just arrived 11/28/23 (day of this review) so I’ll try to remember to come back and update for efficacy. Here’s hoping!

These supplements smell terrible — like fish or cat’s breath (cat owners know what I mean). I mean, the moment you open the jar, the smell is overwhelming. That said, they don’t taste fishy, in my opinion, and they’re easy to swallow. I’ve been using them for about a month and a half but haven’t noticed any difference in my energy levels. Figured I’d finish the jar and decide whether to reorder then. If I start feeling differently about these supplements, I will update my review. If not, it probably means I didn’t reorder them.

I am recovering from damage done to me due to a massive upgrade to a tower near us a year ago. That means that I have nerve pain issues that need help. This is part of my protocol.
SIZE
These pills are average in size and not difficult to swallow.
HOW I TAKE THESE
I take this one capsule with a capsule of alpha lipoic acid and sometimes benfotiamine.
DO THEY HELP?
Depending on the day, these do sometimes help to diminish pain from nerves. I would say that these help as well as other brands of Acetyl – L- Carnitine.
THE BOTTOM LINE
These seem to work well in tandem with other supplements to reduce nerve pain.
MY RATING
FIVE STARS so far. I will update if anything changes as I finish the bottle.

Codeage is a great brand! I have tried another one of their products and experienced good results. So I can comfortably say Codeage produces clean and superior products that have improved my general wellness. So I was stoked when I came across this 3 month supply of Liposomal Acetyl-L-Carnitine.
The capsules are non-GMO, gluten free, keto-friendly, soy-free, and vegan. I like that this product is formulated to be suitable for most diets. The capsules are average sized, easy to swallow, and can be taken with or without food. I also like that this supplement doesn’t include any artificial colors or binders.
I haven’t been taking it long but thus far, I feel more energetic and I have not experienced any adverse reactions. I hope with continued use, it improves my metabolism and reduces my brain fog. While its too premature to assess the total effectiveness of this product, I am satisfied with the increase in energy.

The smell is horrible. I am concerned the sunflower oil they used is spoiled. Will return as rancid oils are so bad for us to consume

First the science = Acetyl-L-carnitine is made from L-carnitine in the body. L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine are used to help the body turn fat into energy. Acetyl-L-carnitine is important for many body processes. L-carnitine is made in the human brain, liver, and kidneys. The body can convert L-carnitine to acetyl-L-carnitine and vice versa. It’s not clear if the effects of acetyl-L-carnitine are from the chemical itself, from the L-carnitine it can make, or from some other chemical.
Acetyl-L-carnitine is sometimes used for Alzheimer disease, improving memory and thinking skills, treating symptoms of depression, and reducing nerve pain in people with diabetes.
That last bullet is why this product is important to me; it helps to reduce the nerve pain in my ankles and feet that is caused my diabetes. This has worked for me is enough reason for me to continue using this product. 90 capsules is a 3-month supply of one per day = 39 cents per day. For me, that is a bargain for the pain relief it provides!

I’ve been taking Carnitine for about a year, but hadn’t previously paid much attention to the form of the carnitine. This product opened my eyes to two different (but potentially both important) supplements.
L-Carnitine Tartrate (not this) is used to improve the body’s oxidation of fat cells and turns fat (instead of muscle) into energy. This is the version I’ve been taking for the past year and is fantastic for improving workouts and maintaining healthy body composition. It’s typically associated with athletic performance and is meant to be taken fairly close in time to the athletic activity.
Acetyl L-Carnitine (this product) is different. It is an antioxidant that crosses the blood-brain barrier and is used for brain health and cognitive enhancement. The general claim is that the benefits that carnitine brings to other cells it can also perform in the brain by slowing age-related brain cell death. The science on this is still somewhat sparse, but definitely interesting.
I don’t have enough experience with this yet to be able to identify any noticeable benefits, but most supplements with cellular benefits are difficult to observe in the short term. I have generally had a positive experience with Codeage products and I’m glad I stumbled across this one.

Review:
I’ve had two mini-strokes in the past and, as a result, have had many memory issues (short and long-term). As part of my recovery routine (exercise, better eating, etc.) I’ve been taking several supplements that target memory and cross the blood/brain barrier. Because I didn’t take this supplement alone, I can’t speak as to how well it works by itself. However, I can say that after taking it for weeks with several other key supplements (and improved diet/exercise), I can see a noticeable difference in my improvement.
This isn’t the first Codeage supplement I’ve taken. I’m impressed with them as a company and will definitely buy more products from them.
