I would have very anxious thoughts at night and wake up throughout the night. I tried this supplement for about a week already and sleep so deeply that I am not used to this. I tried this twice and both times it made my heart race and sick to my stomach. It was 15 dollars wasted. I would give it no stars. Once you buy it you can not even return for credit. Never received answer from company or refund.

The downside of reviewing supplements is that it is hard to tell if the supplement you are taking really does what the description says it does. Mostly because it takes a little time to see improvements. I have been taking 5-HTP supplements on and off for a while. This is my first time trying Sprout Source 5-HTP 200 mg capsules. So far this brand seems to be good. The capsules are easy to swallow. There was not any odor when I opened the bottle. And all of the capsules appear to be well sealed, as there was not any powder or dust on the capsules. I like that these capsules have both 5-HTP and Calcium in them, which means that is one less supplement I need to take which is a plus for me. As for the value that is hard to say because I think that almost all vitamins and supplements are priced high. But this one seems to be in the average range and the quality seems to be good. I will be buying more before I run out.

It is not required that supplement manufacturers disclose the origin of their product, and many do not. My personal preference is a US made product which is made ‘ in house ‘ by the distributor themselves. Second best would be made in USA by a contract manufacturer. A US facility is much more likely to be frequently FDA inspected and held to a higher standard than an off shore source.
Unfortunately, some distributors use confusing label language, like this product, which says “Bottled in the USA” . There is also no indication on the label that lab testing is performed by any party. However, at the bottom of the listing copy, they claim that this product is ‘Made in the USA’, and ‘Third Party Lab Tested’. I trust the legally binding product label over the ad copy, but the inconsistencies are enough to put a question mark by this Sprout Source product.
