Very basic cleanser that does a gentle job. It does not remove makeup so I remove beforehand with micellar water. Sometimes, I use witch hazel to tone afterwards and occasionally see that it has left some dirt behind so you may want to follow up with a toner.I would definetely recommend double cleansing if you are wearing makeup or sunscreen. However, it did not strip my skin or cause dryness like a lot of “gentle” basic cleansers do. It has a lotion-y texture but doesn’t leave my skin feeling like it has a film on it like the “hydrating” cleansers do. Overall, a decent basic moisturizer that I would consider repurchasing in the winter, if I do not find another comparable cleanser. It is a little more expensive then it should be for non-Canadians. Also, one bottle lasts a longggg time, and the pump makes it easy to dispense the right amount of product (I use 2 pumps).

Like a few reviewers stated I also have been battling perioral dermatitis for years. Accutane cured it but then after I stopped taking Accutane for a year now the pd came back.
After a lot of research I stumbled into Spectro. Let’s just say after day 2 I noticed that I didn’t have any new breakouts. After 1 week still no new breakouts.
I even put Spectro to the test and applied a face cream that usually would cause a breakout if I don’t wash it off before going to bed. Shockingly no breakouts occurred the next morning.
It’s fall/winter right now but I plan on updating this reviewer in the summer because that’s the time of year when all hell usually breaks out skin care wise.
But so far this face wash is doing what no other cleanser or over the counter cream could do.

I love this product. I’ve been using it non-stop for about 15 years to cleanse my face.
This is the story I’ve heard about SpectroJel, not sure if it’s true. They came out with the formula a while back and didn’t patent it. L’Oreal then stole it, added a bunch of fragrances and other ingredients to make it more mainstream-compelling and called it Cetaphil. I’ve been sticking to SpectroJel because it is gentle, uncomplicated, effective, and doesn’t strip my skin out of moisture.

Delivery took longer than I expected. Delivery from amazon is usually pretty fast. The product itself is excellent. My dermatitis was pretty bad and after the first application I felt and saw a difference in my skin. So far I’ve used it twice a day for two days and my skin is clearer and feels much better. It starts to work immediately upon the first application. Anyone with any sort of acne or dermatitis should definitely give this product a try.

Oh boy. The smell of chemical or alcohol or whatever is horrendous. I ordered this for dermititis because of all the reviews saying how much it helped, etc. However! I don’t recall any of them mentioning the smell. I cannot use this on my face where I can smell it upclose. On top of that, I can’t tell where it is on my face because it doesn’t foam! It feels like it just falls off my face. Would not recommend.

If you have a skin condition this stuff is an absolute godsend. It is so gentle! It admittedly doesn’t smell fantastic but I am absolutely okay with it because it works! Completely non-irritating.

Why-oh-why don’t they sell this in stores in the USA? I used to buy it for cheap in Canada when I visited every year, but now I order it here. Still totally worth it. Never makes my skin feel tight or dry. Super gentle but makes my face feel clean. I even rub it into my eyelashes to get off makeup.
