I bought this product for years at a vitamin store. They stopped carrying it so I bought it on Amazon. First thing I noticed is the smell is different and the texture of the tablet is as well. There is clear difference in benefits if you take it for awhile and then stop so I know how this supplement affects me positively, this particular batch that I received was completely inert. Considering the smell and texture of the tablet are different I can safely assume they may have reformulated, if that really is the case they have reformulated this supplement to be in effective. Sad because I loved this brand.

These pills list the third ingredient as “hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate.” This is used for the enteric coating to prevent gastric upset. Pthalates are plasticizers now banned in US and EU toys due to evidence of being endocrine disruptors and linked to a variety of adverse health effects. Taking medication with phtalate-based enteric coatings has been reported to increase phthalate exposure beyond established safe limits.
Why would anyone take medication that can cause another health issue? This just doesn’t make sense to me. There are safer enteric coatings available the manufacturer should use, like sodium alginate or shellac. I initially ordered SAMe for my dog and he’s now on CBD from canna-pet, which appears to be more effective for pain-relief. But a quick search revealed a few other brands available that use non-pthalate enteric coatings. Just be sure to check the ingredient list.

I’ve been using SAM-e for about 6 months. I began taking it because of moderate to intense pain in my knees. I’m a big fan of dietary supplments instead of prescription drugs, but even I was surprised at how quick and effective this was. I’ve tried about 3 different formulations and like this one the best. Could easily be a better one out there, there’s a lot more than 3 available. In about 2-3 days, the burning pain was gone from my knees. When I ran out of SAM-e, it took about the same 2 or so days, and I noticed the pain returning. Pretty direct evidence of its effectiveness, at least for me.

Not a fan of individual blister packaging… grrrrr! Just give me a bottle and I’m good! Although upon further review, I understand they may be susceptible to UV breakdown… so put them in a dark bottle?

I bought this product because I wanted something to counter act my mild mood, and energy swings. I already take a strong multi vitamin. I knew going into taking the supplement that it would take about a week to work. I am taking one 400 mg pill first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I am not kidding when I say the first day of taking the supplement I noticed a difference. I have felt the same calmness, and elevation in energy every day since taking this product. I know that everyone is different in how this product reacts. But I was very impressed with my reaction. I do get a little buzz at times “as in a caffeine buzz reaction”. This could be uncomfortable for some people. But the mood swings are gone and my energy level stay’s the same. The price of the product seems to be less than similar products sold, and the pills are packaged in individual separate compartments so that they stay fresh longer. So far I am totally sold on this product and brand.

I badly shattered both ankle sockets a few years ago and one of them never healed right, leaving me with pretty intense pain when I walked for very long. After being nearly crippled for a couple of years I began taking Glucosamine last summer and was delighted to find that it reduced my pain by a huge margin. Then a friend told me about SAMe and I decided to give it a go as well. I took it for a month, then stopped for a month, and then did another month, which brings us up to date. Here are the results:
When I take both SAMe and glucosamine together I am the most pain free I have been since breaking my ankles. It’s awesome!
Now I must say that it’s not a total cure. I still have pain. I still have limited range of motion. I still have to be gentle with my ankle. But man, every little bit helps! Now I can work 5 hours on my feet and not be wincing in pain with each step. Now I can exercise a lot more. Now I can go on walks with my son without paying for it for days afterwards. It’s awesome.
I also seem to notice a SLIGHT boost of energy when I take it. If I am in a bad mood I have noticed once or twice that the bad mood lifted about 30 minutes after taking it. Otherwise I have not noticed any psychological effects. I have had no bad side-effects. I take it in the morning first thing before breakfast, along with my morning tea. I have experienced no nausea, insomnia or other problems…
I’ve read on a website for depressed people that it got horrible reviews for creating anxiety in them, so if you suffer from depression you might want to be cautious about taking this. But otherwise this is highly recommended.

I tried this based on the recommendation of a friend. At first I felt some intestinal cramps but after a couple of weeks my body adjusted. In addition to the benefits the other reviews mentioned, I found that my sleep has improved. I had peri-menopausal insomnia (trouble falling asleep and waking up at 4am) for about 8 years, but since taking SAMe for the past 2 months I fall asleep within 10 minutes of reading and wake up naturally after 7 hours, fresh and alert. I take 2 400mg right when I wake up on an empty stomach and don’t ingest anything for 45 minutes.
