Sharon Lynn –
The decision to take supplements is strictly a personal one because the science behind supplements can be murky. I decided to try resveratrol after doing some online “research” because I can’t tolerate statin drugs (for high cholesterol), and I have a family history of cardiac disease. So…I started it for heart health. After 2-3 weeks, I noticed I felt generally more energetic and less achy (I have spine and joint arthritis). I’m also taking a garlic (allicin) supplement that I buy at another website. I started the garlic 2 months ago and the resveratrol 1 month ago. I’m now DEFINITELY less achy. I can do things that I couldn’t do before (because of joint pain). I think it may be the resveratrol. I researched again and saw it has an anti-inflammatory effect which could be similar to the Cox-2 inhibitor meds (like Celebrex). I haven’t had any problem taking it with naproxen (an NSAID) which I take 1-2 times daily. I’m going to continue taking this. If this is responsible for my improvement, then it’s a sound investment. I only gave it 4 stars because I just can’t say for sure.
