Buyer Beware. Double-check the description on the bottle when it arrives.
The description says “Timed Release” but I got the non-timed release version product. Not a trivial screwup.
If you are supposed to be taking this dose in a TIMED RELEASE form, you probably should NOT be taking the non-timed type. 1500 mg is a substantial dose, and it might be harmful to you by flooding your system all at once. (Of Course, check this out with your health care provider.)
Vitamin Life says it is Amazon’s fault and gave me a full refund, after some considerable upset on my part. Their regular policy would be to have the customer send it back to Vitamin Life at customers’ expense, per “Amazon contract obligation.”
This makes me hope there are good, well-infomed tort attorneys on the case, and strong legislators inclined to protect consumers…

I purchase this particular brand because it is time release. I was told to try taking 100 mg of niacinamide a day, spaced throughout the day, to help prevent age bruising. First, it is hard to find 100 mg pills, secondly, it is hard to remember to take something five times a day. This is a good solution for me. It is more than was recommended, but the time release feature relieves me of trying to remember to take a pill five times a day! As to the effectiveness in preventing bruises? I’m not really sure. I trust this brand and the cost is reasonable, so I keep taking it. I have done so for a couple of years now. I couldn’t say with certainty that it helps with the bruising, but I think there is some improvement. I’ll take anything I can get!

Niacinamde 1500 SR is a sustained release form that if you take it before bed it will last through you sleep. It regulates catecholamines which can affect your brain and mental health as well as heart and blood pressure. It works with me to sleep and dream better and wake calm, mentally sharper and feeling better. The pills are a little large for some but they can be cut in half and taken in two smaller sizes if needed.

I have ADD resulting from childhood polio (I’m 62), Over the years I tried many supplements without noticeable effect, until I tried this product.
What it does for me:
About 5 years ago, I read that Linus Pauling recommended high doses of niacin, and I came across Source Naturals Niacinamide, 1500mg (timed release). I started taking 2 tablets a day and saw immediate improvement in mood, concentration and memory.
After a couple of years I backed off to 1 tablet daily, and now I also take 500 mg of timed release niacin, for its effect on cholesterol. The gains I made have persisted. The only problem I have had is that this product is often out of stock, so I’ve learned to order a new bottle when I open the last one.
I get the “flush” when I take niacin, but not with niacinamide. I’ve never had any side effects from this.
Among the many other benefits, niacin is specifically known to repair the myelin sheath in nerve cells, which is what polio attacks. There is also evidence that myelin degenerates with age. My memory is better now than ever, so I believe the niacinamide has helped me push back on this too.
What it doesn’t do for me:
About 2 years ago I began to experience diabetic peripheral neuropathy, with a tingling that progressed from the tips of my toes to my instep over about a year.
Note that the neuropathy started while I was taking niacinamide regularly, so niacinamide was apparently not a strong preventative measure for this in my case. If you are interested in what worked for me, see my reviews for:

I know the benefits of this supplement. Two pertain particularly to me. One – helps with skin pre-cancers. Two – helps with anxiety similar to benzodiazepines. I am giving this product three stars. The problem is that it may just be too much for me. I have been taking it regularly for 10 days or so and the product has a side effect in me which is a “dirty” stimulation. By that I mean that it makes me stimulated but causes me to clench my teeth. This has increased as the days have gone by. I am going to try a three on and one off approach but may have to find a product with less active ingredients.
Update, alternating days seems to have worked. I have been taking it regularly now with this method. I have noticed that it has cause my skin to have small “eruptions” which I believe are cancers coming to the surface and dying off but without a biopsy I can’t say for certain this is the case. What I can say is I had a for sure BCC that appears to have died off and I plan on getting a biopsy in it’s spot to certify. We may be on to something. On the other side, I am not finding a noticeable difference in anxiety levels.
