I have a medical condition with calcium obsorption and of course over the years, my joints will suffer also…or it could be i’m aging, hehe. The joint health supplement helped just a bit (GCM) and a friend suggested HA (his relative manufactures it in another country so he knows how it works). I searched and found it here at Amazon for a very good price, especially when i order it on a scheduled delivery package. HA helps with joint lubrication, it also makes my skin, nails, hair better. I would recommend this to anyone over 35yrs old. My daughter told me just this week that I don’t have any wrinkles on my arms, and at the doctor’s, the nurse said, “wow, a young mom! (when i went there with my 25yr old daughter). My knee joints still are not normal but almost ok. One time I ran out and didn’t take it for a week and I really noticed the big difference. I told my friend and she loves it. My husband takes it for his hair. I will take HA for the rest of my life.

I’m having some joint and skin issues that could be hyaluronic acid related. So I found this product and it is well reviewed.

However, you may want to search “hyaluronic acid cancer”. It doesn’t cause cancer, but it may help it spread. Wikipedia has a somewhat technical explanation. I’m nowhere near the expert.

So what to do? Certainly if you have cancer, it would not be a good idea to take this stuff. I don’t so, so far so good.

Treat this like Vitamin A: your body produces it, but your body regulates the production of it: it only makes what it needs. If you have enough, your body won’t make more. But if you take vitamin A supplements, your body can’t avoid it and it can build up to a toxic level.

If this helps you, then stop taking it and make sure you are eating the right foods to allow your body to make it. Beans, spinach and sweet potatoes are good sources of food to help your body make what it needs.

I’m not an expert but I think that taking this for a long time is probably not worth the risk unless you are in serious trouble without it. I don’t want to alarm anyone, nor do I have an opinion (heck, even I’m going to try it) but I don’t think it’s a good idea long term unless nothing else works and you are in bad shape without it.

On the other hand, it isn’t clear that if you take it in a pill form and digest it, it remains as hyaluronic acid, so who really knows! I’m not trying to pass judgment, just to alert people to something they may not have thought about.

UPDATE: After receiving the bottle and researching it further, I’ve decided that no one should take any of this stuff unless you are in very serious and continuous pain for which no relief is possible. If it survives digested, it’s like pouring gasoline on a fire to try to put it out. It might work for your joints, but the dangers cannot possibly be worth the risk. It’s proven to help cause cancers to spread, and it is *not* proven to help joint pain. I decided not to take it and urge you to do the search for “hyaluronic acid cancer” and make up your own mind. Again, it doesn’t cause cancer but it helps it grow and spread. Who needs that?

I have no clue how this stuff works for painful joints – in my case both knees and a shoulder. I’ve tried all the other stuff with no results at all. A friend told me about this stuff at a party. He was very athletic and in good condition, as I listened to his testimonial. Anyway, I tried it (100mg/day) and after about 3 weeks the pains I had were totally gone. I mean totally. I shared this with my doctor and he just rolled his eyes saying “well that is the lubricating substance that is naturally in our joints but I don’t see how it would get in those joints by ingesting it”. Frankly I don’t care if its 100% psychosomatic as he was implying. I don’t need to prove anything. I’m not a scientist doing research. My pains are gone is the bottom line. I’d give it a try if nothing else has worked for you – with your doctor’s knowledge of course. His/her condescension only lasts a few minutes but my pain has been gone for months now. You decide.

  4. Scoushe

What a waste of 17+ bucks! This alleged dietary supplement is a large tablet, a bit over 7/8 inch in length (2.5cm), 3/8″ wide and deep (about .6 cm). Seeing the size of this monster, I knew that I couldn’t swallow it so I placed it in 2 ounces of warm water and let it sit for more than twelve hours. It never fully dissolved. Because it’s flavored with potent peppermint I wondered if it’s supposed to be sucked as a lozenge, but it doesn’t say that anywhere on the bottle. I’ve never liked mints so the odor actually turned my stomach. Because I’m a glutton for punishment, I sipped the fluid, which I thought was beyond awful.

If you like mint, however, and don’t mind swallowing a horse pill, here are the ingredients as listed on the bottle: Protein (1 g), Biocell collagen (1 g); hydrolyzed chicken cartilage type II; yielding chondroitin sulfate (200 mg) and hyaluronic acid (100 mg). Other ingredients: stearic acid, natural peppermint flavor, modified cellulose gum, and silica.

Note to manufacturer: Don’t mislead customers with a front label that boldly states Hyaluronic Acid (100 mg), giving the impression that we’re about to purchase a normal small pill that has ONLY 100 mg of hyaluronic acid and then you sneak in all that other stuff on the back label. This is supposed to be a health supplement. Your patrons could be allergic to silica and sulfates, for G__’s sake! It’s not your job to lie and poison us!

I ordered this product 2 increase the amount of H.A. my husband had in his system from another product…he suffers from almost debilitating pain in his neck (2 surgeries, w/bone implant) & also in his lower back (also, 2 surgeries, w/pins,screws, rods). The pain is intense @ times, & do not want 2 risk another surgery @ 72 yr’s of age. Give product time 2 get into system, & it will work & increase lubrication of joints, thus relieving the bone-on-bone pain from both surgical, & aging arthritis !!! It also has increased Bio Cell Collagen. Just wish it could B bought in larger amt. than 60 tabs,at a reasonable price.
