I am a 54 year old female and have recently started the phase of life in which my hair, nails, and skin are dry all the time. Using products on my hair & skin did help some, but not enough, so I decided to work from the inside out and did some research on the problem. Understanding the problem, I decided to try GLA supplements. I took these supplements for a few days – perhaps 4 or 5 – and noticed a difference in my hair. My hair is softer and actually feels a bit fuller. I also noticed a change in my skin – I don’t need to use a moisturizer as frequently. My nails are not better, but I believe that is due to my daily routine, not due to the GLA supplements.

I blend these in a smoothie, so it tastes awful that way but they really do work. Regulating hormones is an important aspect of good health, and I honestly believe these help with that.

I use GLA for the mood benefits. There’s an interesting study that was done in England that showed that if someone is of British descent, is a happy drunk and has overwhelming guilt the next day along with ongoing suicidal thoughts, it’s due to the brain not making enough of this. I’ve only seen the one study but it has changed my life. This has a higher concentration of GLA than evening primrose oil. GNC used to carry a 500mg pill but they discontinued it. THIS IS ALL MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND, OTHER THAN THE STUDY MENTIONED ABOVE, I HAVE NO PROOF OF THIS. It has literally saved my life. Have a great day.

This is a wonderful product for women. Borage oil is soothing to the nerves and Solgar is one of the best brands I’ve ever found.
The capsule is very large but if you rinse it with water it’s easy to swallow.

Received the Super GLA 300mg Borage Oil the first week of December 2015 and have been taking it twice a day everyday. I have not experienced any allergic reactions or side effects. I know that it takes about six weeks to see any benefits/results; so I will be back soon with an update. So far so good.

These work better than the cheaper supermarket ones. They definitely reduce breast pain.

I used to take this, but after doing a bunch of research I discovered it is not PA (pyrrolizidine alkaloid) free!!! This is a big problem because over time the pyrrolizidine alkaloid can cause serious liver damage.
According to WebMD: “Borage seed oil is LIKELY UNSAFE when products containing a dangerous chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are taken by mouth. Borage plant parts including the leaf, flower, and seed can contain PAs. PAs can damage the liver or cause cancer, especially when used in high doses or for a long time. Only use products that are certified and labeled PA-free.”

I’ve said this before and will repeat that my husband and I are more than pleased with the quality of Solgar supplements, including this one which we both take daily. We have arthritis (he, rheumatoid and recently diagnosed osteoarthritis; I have osteoarthritis) and our homeopathic rheumatologist had recommended taking GLA several years ago. This supplement has helped wonderfully, but we also take other supplements to control inflammation successfully. I also have fibromyalgia, neuralgia, and chronic migraine syndrome. My symptoms are less severe and occur less often. We take 2 capsules daily, after a meal (generally after breakfast and dinner). Amazon generally has a few vendors posting Solgar, so you have to check carefully to make sure that you are selecting the best price possible. With all the scary news in the media regarding tainted supplements and some even toxic effects on consumers, we rely on the reliability of Solgar’s quality, Highly recommend this product and the company’s other offerings (I also use their CLA 1300 ngs).
