First thing’s first, it’s a solid collagen supplement because they use marine collagen (and I looked at the company’s website that it is sourced from skin and scales). Not only do they have a good collagen source, it also has added lysine, Proline, and Glycine (the amino acids that create collagen), as well as other boosters for collagen production. The only reason I took a star off is that it is sweetened with a sweetener that leaves a very slight aftertaste… very slight. It goes away in a. few seconds, but it’s a personal pet peeve to have an aftertaste that reminds me that a sweetener compound is added. So take the one star off with a grain of salt. I still believe over-all that this a a very good product.

I am a big believer in this product! I am in my late 30s, and suffice it to say, my skin is no longer as robust and resilient as it was in my early 20s. Years of sunning and an active outdoor lifestyle have taken a toll on my face, especially in terms of leaving dark brown sunspots on my cheeks and nose. I’ve actually been concerned about how AGED my skin has become over this past year.
Since starting Skin Collagen 2.5 weeks ago, I’ve noticed a significant difference in the glow and the toning of my skin. The darker spots are no longer as pronounced, and I feel like my skin has become smoother and less dried out! Although I still have sunspots on my skin, they have definitely lightened up quite a bit–and that’s all due to 2.5 weeks of using this product!
There are quite a few benefits to this product. I’ve learned so much about the different types of collagen just from reading the label on the canister. Specifically, Smarter Nutrition’s Skin Collagen uses Type I collagen, the type that is most nutritious and complementary to skin collagen. Because this collagen is ingested, it actually goes to work much more effectively in the body (vs. using a topical skin collagen that only replaces surface level skin collagen). Being in academia myself, I was particularly drawn to the effects demonstrated in the clinical studies on this product! Dermatologists who conducted this study found that participants noticed a reduction in wrinkles, age spots, and improved brightness of skin after using this product for one month. Wow!
Last, I am a little bit of a gadget nerd, and I love the handy shaker that comes along with Smarter’s product! Like a nutritional shaker, it helps to blend the formula well into water (or whatever beverage you want to add it to). However, it has a handle that helps to stir your drink as you continue to sip through the entire bottle. This is great for smoothies or other drinks that need to be stirred, or iced beverages that need to be cooled down quickly. I have tried other collagen powders in the past, and NONE of them have tasted as good as Smarter’s collagen. I think the ones I tried had other types of collagen (like bovine sources, which can be good for other bodily needs and restoration, but to be honest should be left to soups and other savory meals), and Smarter’s Blueberry flavor actually tastes like blueberries (because they’re naturally part of the antioxidant blend of ingredients!). The collagen is low in sugar, but high on flavor and has been a really refreshing treat during the hot summer months.

All attempts to use lower-priced competitors failed due to poor taste, lack of results or digestion side effects. This product was on sale @ $40 so I decided to come back and check whether it was reality or a rosy memory that had left me with the impression that it was peerless. It is, not only for the skin improvements I started observing but also surprisingly in my case for sharper mental clarity. That suggests its ingredients acts as an anti-inflammatory.
It’s a first-class product that tastes pleasant, delivers results so well worth the price for its weight and I strongly recommend it.

I really do notice a difference!
My brother is a nutritional scientist and told me to try this product after I complained to him that nothing- collagen powders, bone broth, creams- nothing was helping my skin look any better. I finally gave up hope, and figured all the sun damage I’ve had over all the years (at 70 I’m still playing tennis every day) – meant my skin was always going to look old and weathered.
Boy was my brother right with his recommendation. It’s been amazing to watch the “crows feet” at the corners of my mouth start to smooth out. Or maybe “fill in” is a better way to describe it, as if I were getting botox. Even more exciting was the improvement in the texture of my skin, not only on my face but also on my hands. My brother said it’s the Type 1 collagen that’s very unique to this product and that my skin was literally starving from a lack of it. His explanation got a bit technical but basically he said when we’re young our body converts certain amino acids in protein into type 1 collagen, which is what 80% of our skin’s collagen is made of. But as we age, the body makes less type 1 collagen and the skin’s collagen starts breaking down faster than our body can make and replenish it, and that this is what leads not only to wrinkles but sagging skin- which as a woman I hate even more!
So, quite simply the 80% type 1 collagen that’s unique to this Smarter Nutrition Skin Collagen drink mix is a perfect food for my skin. Oh, it also tastes great, mixes easily, and the protein gives me a boost of energy before I hit the tennis courts every morning. Wish I could say it has improved my game – but my skin sure shows it!
