This Essential Amino Acids (EAA) supplement is designed to support muscle mass, exercise performance, and recovery. Each serving (2 capsules) provides 1 gram of all 9 essential amino acids (EAAs), which are crucial for muscle repair and growth.
It’s made in the USA, cGMP-certified, 3rd party lab tested, vegan, non-GMO, and free of wheat, gluten, eggs, soy, dairy, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, sesame.
The capsules contain the following essential amino acids: L-Histidine, L-Isoleucine, L-Leucine, L-Lysine, L-Methionine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Threonine, L-Tryptophan, L-Valine.
Unfortunately, there is no disclosure of how much of each EAA is available in each capsule.
EAAs are the building blocks of protein, which is essential for muscle growth and repair. Supporting muscle protein synthesis, EAAs can enhance athletic performance and reduce muscle fatigue. EAAs help in muscle recovery post-exercise, reducing soreness and promoting faster recovery.

The 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) are the ones that your body can’t produce naturally, and must be obtained via diet. This supplement provides you with 1 gram of each.
There isn’t any established “required” dosage, or one that’s officially recommended by the FDA, so they’re not “essential” in THAT sense of the word, but they offer many benefits.
If you’re trying to build/maintain muscle, a supplement like this should definitely be included along with your protein, creatine, and non‑essential amino acids.
Taking them all together like this isn’t necessarily the best way, but it’s better than not taking them at all, and it’s more convenient.
The list price on this one seems about average to me.

I know that there’s a major problem in the US today with obesity. But I have the opposite problem. I’m naturally of slender build and, as I’ve gotten older, I’m concerned that I may be losing muscle mass and strength. I feel less robust compared to my younger self. I do my best to eat right, but I’m sure that I sometimes slip up. I view this as a simple way of adding an amino acid boost to my diet. The supplement industry is unregulated, and there are a lot of sketchy supplements out there. So I appreciate that this is manufactured in the USA in a cGMP-certified facility with third-party quality control audits. These are approximately 7/8 inch long white capsules. There’s no aftertaste and I don’t notice any adverse effects. There’s a “best by” date on the bottom of the bottle. My bottle shows a date a few months shy of 3 years from when I received it.

I’ve been using Smarter Nutrition Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) for about a week now, and so far, I’m pleased with the results. Recently I started the carnivore diet and as someone focused on maintaining muscle mass and overall well-being, I appreciate the comprehensive blend of all nine essential amino acids. The peace of mind provided by the 3rd party testing and cGMP-certified manufacturing is a definite plus.
Pros:
+ Complete EAA Profile: Contains all nine essential amino acids in a convenient 1-gram blend per serving. This ensures I’m getting the full spectrum necessary for muscle protein synthesis and other bodily functions.
+ Noticeable Support: While it’s early in my usage, I’ve noticed a slight improvement in my workout recovery. I feel less sore after intense sessions, suggesting the EAAs are contributing to muscle repair.
+ Clean and Vegan-Friendly: The formula is free from common allergens and animal products, making it suitable for a variety of dietary restrictions. This is important to me as I follow a plant-based diet.
+ Quality Manufacturing: The 3rd party testing and cGMP certification provide reassurance that the product is of high quality and free from contaminants. This transparency is commendable.
+ Good Value: The 180-count bottle provides a 90-day supply, making it a cost-effective option compared to other EAA supplements on the market.
Cons:
– Limited Flavor Options: Only available in capsule form, so there’s no flavor choice. This may not be a con for many, but some prefer flavored options.
– Early Stages of Use: I’ve only been using the product for a week, so long-term benefits remain to be seen. A longer trial period is needed to fully assess its impact on muscle growth and overall well-being.
Who I’d recommend it to:
– Individuals looking for a comprehensive and convenient EAA supplement.
– Vegans and those with dietary restrictions seeking a clean and allergen-free formula.
– Athletes and fitness enthusiasts aiming to support muscle recovery and performance.
– Older adults looking to maintain muscle mass and strength.
Who might want to look elsewhere:
– Those who strongly prefer powdered EAA supplements for faster absorption or flavor options.
– Individuals seeking a product with added ingredients like BCAAs or electrolytes.
Additional tips:
– Take as directed, preferably around workout times or as recommended by a healthcare professional.
– Combine with a balanced diet and regular exercise for optimal results.
– Monitor your body’s response to the supplement and adjust dosage as needed.
Overall, Smarter Nutrition EAAs seem to offer a solid and reliable way to supplement with all nine essential amino acids. The clean formula, quality manufacturing, and reasonable price make it a worthwhile option for those seeking to support muscle health, workout recovery, and overall well-being. While long-term effects still need to be personally assessed, the initial experience has been positive, and I look forward to continued use. If you are looking for a convenient, vegan friendly, and comprehensive EAA supplement, Smarter Nutrition EAAs are definitely worth considering as an option.

My chemical test is to taste these things. EAA formulas typically have a predominance of BCAAs, mainly leucine, because many of them are sports-oriented. Leucine in particular has a very strong and distinctive flavor. I get a lot less of that in this formula, and more bitterness and sweetness. Those could be from a couple of different amino acids, but which ones, I don’t know.
It would be helpful if Smarter Nutrition listed the amounts of each amino acid on the label – most EAA and BCAA formulas do that. There are other EAA formulas that are not sports-oriented and it would help distinguish what this is for.
This is an inexpensive bottle, but it is a very small bottle (60 capsules), so if you really want to supplement EAAs this might not be the best value.
