Went to my dermatologist for itchy scalp. I don’t have dandruff or other visible scalp condition. I don’t use any dye or hair products that would cause this. He suggested trying a shampoo without cocamidopropyl betaine. All my shampoos had that in it (T-Gel, Head and shoulders and all others I had). He cautioned me that it would be hard to find and told me even baby shampoos had this in it. I was thrilled that I found this shampoo on amazon. I did find it a little drying (hair has no shine) but otherwise it reduced itchiness 75%. I tried adding a conditioner but then the itchiness returned. I’ll have to live with less shiny hair.

I liked the way this shampoo leaves my hair fresh and shiny and my scalp clean, but I questioned why my hair seemed to fall out easily since I’d been using it. I had been using it for at least a year and noticed constant hair shedding on my clothes. I don’t even color my hair or use any other products except a blow drier and hair iron. So I switched to a different shampoo and my hair does not seem to be falling out anymore. Therefore it seems that Vanicream Shampoo is not the best shampoo for me and I will not use it anymore.

This shampoo is lovely for sensitive scalp. I have severe eczema, and this is the shampoo recommended by my dermatologist! It works well, and when used with the conditioner, it leaves the hair shiny, soft, and very healthy. My hairdresser is impressed with how well it suds, and how well my hair looks. I can’t use hairspray because of the eczema, but the shampoo gives my hair body, and looking good!

Have you ever visited the bathroom and forgot your phone? What do you do to fill the time? Read Shampoo labels, naturally. Can you believe the amount of ingredients they have? Can you pronounce any of them? For those with sensitive scalps like mine, all those unnecessary chemicals can cause problems – especially dryness! My doctor recommended Vanicream after I had tried virtually all the “others” and the difference was remarkable! It is an extremely clean solution and makes your scalp happy! I never really used conditioner before but I was so thrilled with the results of Vanicream that I started buying their conditioner as well and my hair looks like those Pantene commercials now!

I have used the Vanicream cleanser for my skin so was ready to try the shampoo. Since I haven’t seen it in any store near where I live I ordered it online. For a 12 oz bottle it is rather affordable compared to some shampoos that size or smaller (I paid more for a name brand 8 oz size of shampoo). Since I am not a big fan of dyes and/or fragrances I was glad to see this shampoo contained neither. And by fragrance-free that means no masking scents either. Some fragrances can be aggravating–I don’t want perfume just clean hair. The shampoo is also sulfate-free and since I color my hair that was a plus too-hopefully less fading of hair color. I have hair that tends to run on the oily side but at the same time is straight and limp so I use styling products which can also cause build-up. This shampoo doesn’t contain any additional proteins and since it is a clear shampoo kind of acts like a detox shampoo yet doesn’t contain the harsh SLS that some clarifying shampoos do. We have soft water so it lathered up okay and I do spend extra time rinsing to make sure everything is out of my hair. Since my hair is thick it did get kind of tangled after washing so I did use a conditioner to facilitate easier combing. I rotate between a couple of shampoos so this will probably be the one I use when I need to give my hair a fresh start and get rid of build-up.
