This scrubber did smell of rubber when I first opened the package. AFter leaving it out for a day the smell decreased significantly. I think the directions were to use it without soap, but I use it with soap. When the soap starts to watsh away is when I feel the gentle exfoliation. It’s like super fine grit sandpaper but barely there. I can use this one more than the heavy duty mitt that is plastic.
This doesn’t curve as much as a mitt, so getting in between small spaces isn’t as easy. This does work, dries fast too. It has its uses for some exfoliation, not for heavy duty.

This scrubby is just what I need for really getting the dead and itchy skin, or dirty stains from work, to wash away in the shower. It’s basically a textured rubber mat material similar to old gym floors, which if you ever fell on and skinned your knee and hands, you know they really grip! The scrubber is as big as my whole hand, and flexible so I can use it to scrub small, narrow areas like the sides of my nose, or between my toes, as easily as it does the big and flat areas of the body. Skin feels luxuriously soft and smooth after using this. I apply soap directly to the center of it and smear that around, then scrub, then rinse the scrubber and use it once more on the still-soapy skin before rinsing everything. VERY effective. Not a product for those with thin, fragile or sensitive skin–this is great for the working folks out there who need to get farm dust, drywall and metal off their thick skin and feel really clean afterward. I love it.
