Mexican Chocolate Mulberry bars taste good & love the organic, vegan ingredients. I didn’t expect the spiciness, from the description, but still great.

I purchased these bars because I have been looking for a protein bar that is high in protein and low in sugar that has ingredients that I can pronounce. Every ingredient in this bar is a food that I can read and know of. There are no random ingredients! I was not sure of the texture and flavor, but I love a mango so I ordered this particular flavor instead of choosing the variety pack. I should have gone with the variety pack. The Mango, turmeric, cashew flavor is good, but I’d like to try other flavors as well, so I”ll probably switch to the variety pack with my next order to sample more of them. I was not expecting the soft texture, but I like it. This is a great bar, with high protein, good food sources that ultimately keeps me full.

Last year I was planning a three week trip to Uganda. I wanted to make sure I had protein that I could eat while I was there, and I looked at dozens of bars. I was drawn to Shanti because of the high amount of protein it had for a raw vegan product, so I thought I’d give it a try. I tried a couple other brands as well for comparison. Hands down the Shanti bars were the favorite of mine and my three sons, and I’ve been eating them ever since.
I have tried all the bars with 17g of protein and they are all great, however, the Vitality and Recover bars are my favorites. I also buy the minis to keep at my desk at work and share with my coworkers and everyone loves them. These bars are chewy, dense, very flavorful and nourishing. I use them as a meal replacement or as a snack and they are filling and so, so delicious. It’s by far the best protein bar I have ever eaten. In addition, adding these bars to my diet has contributed to my 30 pound weight loss.
I am a devoted fan and recommend these bars to everyone. They are all so good, try them all and find the ones you like the best, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve decided to do a personal product test with 3 different brands of protein bars. The bars i picked were similar in that they had no added sugars, non-gmo and all organic ingridients. The 3 brands that I picked were Shanti, Atlas, and Rx bars. They all had similar protein content 12-17, that was my main reason, need a little extra protein intake.
That’s where Shanti took the lead with 17g per bar, unfortunately that’s the only category that Shanti won. The bars themselves were pretty horrible tasting, the worst of the bunch. I’ve had a variety pack, and none of the flavors were any good. I had to pretty much chase every bite down with water. I guess you also get the benefit of probiotics and the gut health, but it’s not good to me since I can hardly eat a bar and still have left over from my order.
Rx bars were 12g of protein per bar, which is the lowest count among the 3 brands compared. The bar itself was OK. It was a little chewy and had tendency to get stuck in my teeth, but the overall taste was pretty good. I had a variety pack and I finished the whole box.
Atlas bars for me took the cake. At 15g of protein per bar, and just 1g of sugar, these tasted amazing. They were not too chewy, and were very enjoyable, to the point where I had 1 and then wanted to have one more right after. These felt more like a treat than a protein bar. These also contain Ashwagandha, which apparently is good stuff, and it does give me that energy and motivation to work out. The price point on these is higher than the other 2 brands, but I already ordered 3 more boxes and I think I found my protein bar of choice.

These are normally delicious, but this is the 2nd order I which they have been rock hard and very stale.

Nutritionally, these are very much on point. Great calorie-to-protein ratio, natural ingredients, etc. Nothing artificial, especially sweeteners, which I love.
These bars are of the “compressed mass of slightly chewy stuff” variety. They’re a bit on the dry side, which is actually a good thing for this style. Too much moisture makes them seem like modeling clay. The form factor is a bit strange. They’re wrapped in way-too-large packages, which makes the bars feel especially tiny. The bars don’t look especially appealing, I should add. That doesn’t really matter, but it sort of does: We tend to eat with our eyes, first. Looking at these, I don’t exactly want to take a bite.
Now to the flavor — most important aspect, right? I ordered the variety pack, so here’s a review of each:
– Red Velvet Chocolate Chip: Really weird sour flavor fading into beet. Chocolate chip? I didn’t taste any. Edible, but not something I’d look forward to. I like beets a lot, but not something I want in a protein bar.
– Cashew Cookie Dough: Also weird sour flavor. No beet, yay! Not much else to say, though. Kind of just sour. Also edible. Also not something I’d look forward to. Not sure if it’s better or worse on balance than the beet bar.
– Blueberry Matcha: This was the actually pretty good and I’d say that I semi-enjoyed this flavor. It’s not the most delicious thing ever, but far from bad and I might consider ordering more of them. But I should add that the color of this bar — thanks to the matcha, no doubt — is by far the most off-putting of the bunch. It’s a rather putrid brownish pea green and, well, this needs to be sheathed in some yogurt or something.
All in all, these bars aren’t the greatest thing I’ve ever had. I like the concept a lot and I might try some of the brand’s other offerings, as well as a repeat on the Blueberry Matcha. But definite pass on the other two flavors.
