I am a nurse who is all about holistic health, and I like to listen to podcasts that discuss such things. Rhonda Patrick, one of the most arguably intelligent and motivating researchers I have encountered, mentioned that saccharomyces boulardii is a great probiotic for your gut biome.
Fun fact, most of your serotonin receptors, one of our memory, learning, happiness, etc. neurotransmitters, are in your gut! It is imperative to have a healthy gut to keep your serotonin levels high, keep your immune system working at an optimal level, and have regular bowel movements.
Also, this probiotic strain has been shown to decrease the incidence of C. Diff (nasty diarrhea due to the lack of good bacteria in your stomach) after a dose of antibiotics. If anything, please, please, PLEASE take this probiotic during and after antibiotic treatment.
Antibiotics are great! They kill all the bad bacteria that are making you sick but also all the good bacteria that help keep your body running optimally. And ladies, it is especially important to take this probiotic because of the risk of yeast infections after a course of antibiotics. Take care of your body and keep it in tune! I had been a longtime user of the name brand of this supplement for years, taking 4 of those daily. It was costly, so I started looking for an alternative. I switched to this product and found they have excellent customer service. Taking 8 capsules a day is still less than the Florastor cost and it has worked as well!

This is a good probiotic for anyone with mild GI symptoms. It doesn’t solve all my problems entirely but it’s beneficial if you have candida or too much bad gut bacteria, especially if you don’t respond well to traditional probiotics.

Update: I’ve been taking this product for about a year now. And I take 2 capsules every morning. I tried to taper off of it, but I started getting stomach aches. So I realized I needed it everyday and I got back on and the stomach aches ceased.
I had very bad candida issues for over a decade and nothing got rid of it, except this product. It is the reason that I no longer have candida issues. This, as well as a few other supplements and figuring out what I could and could not eat, have healed my gut. It all took a while, but once I was able to eat more w/o stomach issues, I stopped losing weight, which was great because I was too thin. I’ve started to gain weight and my energy has increased and is back to normal.
I worked closely with a healer during this process and that helped. The other supplements I take that either I or he found and that work great for me are: Ion Gut Health; Dr. Ohhirra’s professional strength probiotics; Herbal Aloe Force [for stomach issues] ; Pure Synergy Enzyme Power; and, Nyture Natto [a Japanese fermented soybean food which is great if you’ve taken antibiotics].

I’ve only taken this a few times. The background is that I had to take antibiotics for an infection about five months ago and even though I took probiotics during it [not this kind] I still had stomach issues. Then I got Giardia from a relative’s pet who had it. Yikes. I was sick for weeks and weeks and even after the giardia was killed off, I had cramping and gas and no appetite and felt nauseated much of the time. I lost alot of weight and I’m already thin.
So divine guidance led me to take SB [not kidding, I saw an image when I was at my weakest]. I took Jarrow, which I liked, then I ran out of that and had to get some right away from the drugstore and I got Florastor. The name brand. But Florastor made me nauseated. Not sure why. Possibly because it has lactose.
So then I got this because it doesn’t seem to have additives. I took some last night and woke up feeling better than I have in weeks. I took some this morning as well..
I’m also taking Restore the gut health supplement. I think its going to be a somewhat long road back, but my digestion was bad before I got giardia and the giardia imbeds in the intestinal wall. Restore repairs the intestinal wall. And the SB has been miraculous for me. I went from constant stomach pain and gas and zero appetite to actually wanting to eat and having less and less pain. No reason to ever be without this. I’ve read that SB is completely out of one’s system after 5 days, so I’ll never run out.
This brand is much cheaper than Florastor. And in my experience, better.

This product is of very high quality compared to the Florastor brand I used to use. Also, the savings is phenomenal compared to Florastor, which I bought at a large drugstore chain (I’m getting 4x the product for the same amount I paid at the drugstore chain).
