Gentle and nicely scented soap!
Hunting Creek –
I love treating myself to specialty soaps. This is a nice bar of soap. Gentle on the skin. Lathers and rinses easily. Doesn’t dry out the skin. Good ingredients.
I Do The Speed Limit –
This is not fragrance-free–I detected a very faint, pleasant, scent of patchouli (of all things to find in a scent-less soap!) And the label even smells of patchouli.
The label claims “Pure Essential Oil Free”. Does that mean it contains un-pure essential oils? The ingredient list also lists “all natural herbs”, so maybe the patchouli slips in under that description, since it is in the same plant family as mint and oregano.
If you watch the video on this product page, be aware that the lather you see must be from minutes and minutes of working that bar! Yes, it sure does look luxurious, but I don’t have the time to wait and fiddle with a bar of soap in the shower.
The usual lather is much less. It does feel soft on the skin, and it rinses without leaving a noticeable residue. BUT the moisturizing properties don’t last for more than a half-hour or so. Within the hour after towelling off, I’m forced to apply a lotion or cream. I’ll stick to Pre de Provence products or Dove–better value, better results.
I give this three stars–an average rating. It’s not a bad soap, not a great soap. I must reserve my 5-star soap rating for Pre de Provence soaps. They lather up better, last longer because they are quad-milled (some are triple-milled), cost less, and provide MUCH better moisturizing.

Drying to my skin and flared up my rosacea.

Luxiny soap bar is advertised as Essential Oil/Scent Free but it definitely has a scent, whether naturally occurring or not, it has a smell to it (which doesn’t bother me at all, I actually like it because it is mild and doesn’t leave your hand smelling like the soap…has a very subtle hint of patchouli). Upon reading the package paper that’s wrapped around it, the front says, “Essential Oil/Scent Free” and then rotating the bar to the side, it says, “100% Vegan-Palm Free * …* All Scents From All Natural Essential Oils” so I am confused! Is there, or is there not essential oils in this bar? They have a line of other bars that DO have essential oils in them, so perhaps they need to update their packaging for this specific bar.
Now, onto the soap! I have recently switch from shampoo and conditioners in plastic bottles, to shampoo and conditioner bars, so along with these changes, I am wanting to use moisturizing bar soap for my body, instead of liquid body wash. This bar did that for me: it suds up nicely, left my skin feeling moisturized and overall, I am happy with this bar soap. I hope this is helpful!

WHEN, WHEN, WHEN will companies STOP advertising skin products as “fragrance free” when they clearly are NOT. I am extremely sensitive to fragrance and ingredients so truthfulness in advertising is imperative to my making good purchasing decisions. I feel totally misled by the soap label which lists coconut oil and cocoa butter as the main ingredients and specifies “fragrance free”. I had to wrap this soap in a baggie to avoid the smell. Either the unnamed essential oils and/or castor seed oil account for the smell which is very unpleasant — like a terrible cross between the Hippie incense Patchouli, cocoa, and something minty. I’m deathly allergic to heavy scented, pungent Patchouli, so “no thanks” Luxiny for having anosmia (inability to smell).
The soap does produce luxurious, rich and creamy suds but who cares when you can’t tolerate the smell. The “feel” of the soap is only temporary. As soon as my hands dried, the skin felt smooth (but my skin always feels smooth anyway) but looked very dry and felt itchy in an irritated way. As soon as I post this review, the soap is headed for the trash. 2 stars for sudsing action, but then there were all those negatives of no lasting effect and the horrid smell.
