We are usually running all over the place in summer, so I really like stick sunscreens that are easy to transport. This one is easy to apply, and I really like that it is mineral so it’s on top of the skin rather than going into your skin. Scent is okay too.

It’s not quite summer here yet so the sun is still pretty low in the sky. However, the stick seems good and is easy to apply. It’s zink oxide, which is what’s been used for decades. The additional ingredients all seem good; no chemicals, just flowers and various extracts and oils accordingly. I have no problems putting this on my skin.
It is a small stick – only one ounce. You’ll have to decide if the price is right for you for such a small vial.

This is a Face & Body SPF 30 sunscreen stick from Raw Elements Mike Field. It is very compact and easily transportable. The stick is 3-1/4″ long, 1 inch wide and weighs 1 ounce. You apply the sunscreen by rolling it on the surface of your skin and rubbing it in. This is a mineral sunscreen and definitely needs to be rubbed in for proper application. The stick packaging is all cardboard or fiberboard and is compostable.
I used the sunscreen prior to 2 to 2-1/2 hours of moderate outside activity in mostly direct sunlight. I definitely sweated. However, this mineral sunscreen never “ran” into my eyes and definitely provided very good protection. As it is a stick, I also used it on my lips for protection from the sun. Seemed to work just fine providing lip protection.
As this is a relatively small sunscreen stick, it is a little hard to determine if you are applying it “all over” in a place that you cannot see very well. For example, are you able to apply the stick to fully cover the back of your neck?
Small sunscreen stick that is easy to carry. It fits in a pocket. The sunscreen itself is very effective, but a bit hard to rub in. The packaging is completely compostable. The packaging is very attractive. I really like the artwork they chose.

It’s spring break in Texas which means we are already in the pool. My daughter and I used this face sunscreen stick today and neither of us ended up burning so it appears to work well! I checked the EWG ratings and this company scores well for its health-friendly ingredients. Zinc oxide is the way to go for sunscreen and that’s what this is. It does not leave a white sheen and applies easily.
Update: Don’t make the same mistake I made and leave this outside overnight because it is apparently tasty to raccoons!
The packaging on the stick is definitely different. It is a cardboard tube rather than the usual plastic. You have to push the sunscreen stick up from the bottom – think old school orange push up popsicles. I’m a little nervous about cardboard and wet towels and suits but it does appear to be a very thick, sturdy cardboard so hopefully it holds up well. I still would take care to not just throw it in a pool bag with wet stuff. But overall seems like a great product!

This stuff works great. It definitely protects against sunburn.
The stick is small, which is why I think it is more for face than for body. It would take forever to use this on your body!
However, the product itself is great. It is a little hard/thick to get on – think of a stick deodorant, that’s kinda the texture of it. It has very little fragrance and also doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy or shiny. It’s clear with no white residue.
Overall this seems like a great product and worthwhile to carry with you on an outdoor adventure. One caveat – it’s in a thick cardboard-like packaging, so if it was out in the heat, it may melt and leak. I will have it in a baggie just in case.

I love Raw Elements sunscreen – it really works – but I was very disappointed by the size of this stick, as this sunscreen would be relatively expensive even if it weighed what I expected it to weigh. The amount noted in the product title was 1.8 oz, but the stick is actually 1.0 oz. The cost listed per ounce ($6.61, according to Amazon) is also misleading, since this was over $19 at the time I got it so the price per ounce is at least $19! The product is excellent – goes on easily, provides good protection from sunburn – but I deducted two stars as I never would purchase this knowing the true weight. Get the tin or tube as they are much better deals.

Yes, there are flower extracts, etc in these but the real benefit is the lack of nano zinc particles. It’s a relatively recent thing to add to your list of things to worry about, but there’s various research studies about how tiny zinc particles can damage skin, etc. This brand advertises that they do NOT use the nano sized zinc particles in their products.
You wouldn’t notice the botanicals by the smell.. really nothing there as far as smell goes. It goes on clean and easily rubs in. Yes, it’s a small stick but most face sticks are. You’re not supposed to lather your entire body in this. Just apply to your face in a few streaks and then rub it in to add some SPF 30 protection on sunny days. It’s definitely priced on the premium side, which is often the case for things made with premium ingredients. You’ll have to make the call on the value proposition…

-You get 1 oz of Face Stick SPF 30 and it is made in the USA
-This is a small stick so I use it on my face only
-You have to push the stick up from the bottom to use it and push it down again when you finished
-It is a little hard to glide it on my face so I just dab it
-It contains no fragrances but has a coconut scent and makes my face looks whiter after applying without any residue
