I would have preferred the licorice root to be smaller as we have had to cut some of them down because some of the twigs are a little large. But, the licorice taste good and seems to help.

You either love to chew on licorice root sticks, or you don’t. If you do, then this is the perfect licorice root stick. They dig up the roots, clean them, and chop them up into about four inch lengths, and package them. It’s as natural as you can get without actually doing the harvesting yourself.
The things I like about licorice root sticks:
* no chemical nothing – just a natural root that you chew on
* they are naturally sweet, but not overly so
* this is where the REAL licorice flavor comes from, and if you love licorice, this is the genuine article – it tastes like what real licorice is supposed to taste, not the stuff that they make with anise flavoring or chemicals from some New Jersey industrial plant.
* you can use it to clean your teeth and massage your gums, if you’re into that sort of thing.
* the aftertaste is fantastic – actually, this is my favorite thing. If you rinse your mouth out with a drink of water after you’re done with your stick, it will leave a wonderful, refreshing taste in your mouth, and your breath will smell nice to others.
* it actually helps calm my stomach when my tummy is feeling upset. I’m not sure why, but it’s a natural herbal product, and so it has natural herbal stuff that does stuff to you. All I know is that if my tummy is a bit sour or sore, chewing on this stuff will help it feel better almost every time.
The negatives:
* you’re chewing on a stick!
* it breaks down and gets splintery, which is how the flavors get released, but if you’re not careful, you will end up with a mouthful of wood chips clogging up the works.
* After you’re done chewing on the stick, it’s really gross looking. So you have to find ways to get rid of this without making people gag. Fortunately, it’s totally biodegradable, and if you are driving down the highway, it’s probably fine to just toss it out the window – it’s just a stick, after all…
Nobody I’ve known in my life has ever understood my love for licorice root sticks (I’ve chewed on them since I was 13 years old – over fifty years!). But that doesn’t bum me out, because I know that nobody is going to be raiding my stash!

Was looking chew sticks these are more for making tea or something. Very large sticks no way they could be used for chew sticks. The smallest stick in the pack was even too big.

Some reviews are from people saying it’s too hard or it’s nasty. First off, it’s a stick… Second please carve the bark off before using, because the bark is the nasty part. Now, if you’re like me, you’ve never chewed on a stick before, so you might not know what to expect. Well, after carving and chewing/rubbing on your teeth, the inners of the root slowly start to split into strong fiber strands, resembling soft bristles on a toothbrush. The taste is actually surprising sweet, and leaves a nice and subtle aftertaste in your mouth for a little bit. One stick can last you a long time, depending on if you’re chewing or rubbing on your teeth. These may not be for everyone, but i definitely like them 😁

My teeth and gums have always been… temperamental, despite regular flossing and brushing and rinsing. I’ve got a waterpick, I do oil pulling–from A to Z, I’ve tried pretty much everything, and it all, of course, helps keep things comfy and healthy. But every once in a while I get what feels like extreme tooth sensitivity or the start of a cavity. This has happened twice in the last few years, and both times I chewed on these sticks for a week or two and the sensitivity/pain went away for a long time. Is it really the sticks that are helping? I don’t know. Maybe it’s a combination of everything. But sometimes chewing on one of these brings instant relief. They do have anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, and they make my teeth and mouth feel clean and refreshed. Boiling them and swishing with the tea also seems to reduce any sensitivity and inflammation much better and faster than anything else. For me, for these reasons alone, these things are magical and I highly recommend them.
That said… they are awful to chew on. They’re super hard, they come apart in your mouth and you’re left chewing on little twigs, I keep pulling bits of stick off my tongue–it’s all so gross. Even if you strip the bark off, the stick still breaks up. The taste isn’t bad–it’s sweet and slightly herbal, but the stick part is just ugh. But I do it anyway! Because it works. Usually, I gnaw until the end goes soft, and then I use that softened end to brush around the gum line. When the end starts to break up enough that I can’t take it anymore, I cut it off and move to the next section. Still gross. Still so incredibly helpful with making my teeth feel better and cleaner.

They make your teeth feel polished, and you can take them anywhere, just wish they came with some kind peeler/sharpener.

Unfortunately this product was not good for me. It smelled bad and tasted bad. Very little if any taste of licorice. Some sweet taste at first but goes away quickly. The roots are hard to chew even after hours of soaking in water.
