Tae –
The sunscreen ingredients are Octinoxate and Oxybenzone, which are harmful ingredients that are found to be Hormone Disruptors and can negatively affect your Thyroid. It’s also harmful to Reefs and aquatic life, and many sun screen lotions have stopped using these ingredients.
If they switch to a safe mineral sunscreen, like Zinc Oxide, I might switch back as these used to be my go-to chapsticks. But until then I will not put these harmful ingredients are on my skin.

I have a very bad problem with cold sores especially when my lips get dry and chappy. I have bought this in a tube for years and was glad to find it in a chapstick that is easier to travel with and carry. I would recommend it to anyone.

I use this to help me avoid getting any cold sores. I have not had one since started using almost two years ago. It also makes a good chap stick because it soothes the lips if starting to get chapped. Still buying the product.

I’m so glad I found this product–unless I’m on a winning streak of luck I haven’t had a cold sore in a full year. Last year I had an outbreak almost every four months. I was finally so fed up and went to my Primary Care so they could prescribe me Valtrex. With one last fleeting hope to use something other than the prescribed medicine I purchased this and have not looked back. I use it every single day, morning, noon & night and I swear it helps prevent coldsores and keeps my lips natural moisture balance. I’ve never had to take the medication and swear by this! Order the 4 pack because once your supply starts running out you don’t want to go back to using regular chapstick or any other crap.

I bought this when I learned that my Chapstick addiction was actually feeding itself because of an ingredient in it that actually irritates the lips into get chapped. I used to panic if I realized I didn’t have any with me and my lips would feel so dry I’d swear they were going to unfurl and fall right off my face. If you’re addicted to Chapstick, you know what I mean; if you’re not, it probably sounds ridiculous, but trust me, it’s a real thing. But I couldn’t just quit lip balm all together because I get cold sores if my lips get irritated or too dry for too long.
I used this to ween myself off of the addiction and now I just use it twice a day, sometimes three if it’s a super dry day. I haven’t had a cold sore break out since I started using it! I know it’s not a controlled study or anything, but my initial concerns about breaking my addiction to Chapstick are total non-issues if I’m using this. Because I haven’t had a cold sore since I started using this, I can’t speak to whether it would reduce the duration or severity of a break out, but I’m willing to bet it at least helps.

I’ve had cold sores for my whole life and have tried almost everything out there to prevent and treat them. This is the first thing that has truly worked! I put the chap stick on every day and keep a tube in all my purses, coats, my car, desk at work, etc. so that one is always on hand. Whenever I have been under more stress or out in the sun (what seem to be my biggest triggers) I make sure to put lots of the chap stick on and also take around 1,000-1,500 mg of lysine.
I used to have 4-5 cold sores per year and now have not had a cold sore for 9 months! It’s been quite the test too as I’ve been planning my wedding and have been under quite a bit of stress and anxiety (good stress is still stress!). I did feel a “tingle” about three months ago and my lip started to get a little puffy like a cold sore was just ramping up. I put a ton of this chap stick on and took 2,000 mg of lysine and the next day there was NO tingle and NO swelling! The cold sore never materialized! I recommend anyone who suffers from cold sores to try this out and see for yourself. It’s truly been a life changer for me.
