Taurine is used in many popular energy drinks for a burst of energy. The Puregen Labs taurine contains 1000 mg in a vegetarian capsule. Fitness buffs such as bodybuilders take it to maintain muscle mass. The other prime audience is anyone over 50 years old who need support for muscle recovery on a day to day basis. I’m not an energy drink aficionado so it’s a great way (for anyone) to try this essential amino acid. In fact, it is cheaper than the drinks and workout powders, as well as more convenient.
I added it to my early morning amino acid stack and so far it has been working silently in the background. My mood and energy have improved lately. For me, some new substances require several weeks or more to see results. I have had no adverse side effects taking one capsule per day as recommended in the Supplement Facts.
I wanted to verify the accuracy of some of the claims made by the seller. They say in the product description and also on the label that each capsule contains 1000 mg of taurine. They are using size 00 capsules, which in my experience weigh between 120 to 130 mg when empty, so all together each capsule should weigh 1125 mg, ideally.
Checking a sample of 16 taurine capsules randomly selected, I recorded gross weights between 997 to 1087 mg, including the capsule. The gross average weight for the group was 1046 mg. What really piques me is that they attest to numbers that fell short by 38 to 128 mg, or from 3.4% to 11.3%. There were no capsules in the sample that met their claim.
If you don’t mind getting about seven pints when you pay for a gallon of milk, perhaps you can overlook getting less taurine in these capsules, as well. Most people wouldn’t buy that milk. It’s the same proportion of shortage here, only with a capsule, it’s harder to tell. It seems like a good product otherwise.

If you’re considering a taurine supplement, you’re already aware of the purported benefits. This version from Puregen Labs provides 1000mg in a single capsule, and the capsule is free of some of the other fillers you might find elsewhere. In supplements I generally look for GMP certification (which this has), country of origin (this is made in the USA) and third-party testing results. This is lacking on the latter, with no published results or even claims of independent testing that I could locate. It is a tremendous value at this price for four months’ worth of product, but I would gladly pay a little more to know that a product I’m going to use daily is tested for purity and free of any surprises.

Well worth the price and one to keep on the cabinet as a staple. These come top-sealed and at a quality I expect, no leakage or odd odors etc. The pro of using is in situations where you work out at night or in a labor environment – where you can replace an energy drink with caffeine for this bottle. No stimulants means it is interchangeable with a current workout stack. Great price, pretty effective for me.

I have to have caffeine every morning to wake up, but then I have an issue with my heart racing later. These taurine pills are like magic. if I feel my heart start to race, I just take one of these (one per day only), and within 20 minutes, my heart stops racing – either that or it’s just my whole system feels like it calms down. Whatever it is, I retain the benefit of caffeine (waking up) without having to deal with anxiety like symptoms I often get. If you look at energy drinks, they all have taurine in them, so there must be something to this. Highly recommend this product.

I’m taking Puregen Labs Taurine 1000mg primarily because it’s reported to support nerve health, specifically by aiding in myelin production. While I haven’t personally noticed any significant improvements related to my neuropathy yet, I’m continuing to supplement for its overall health benefits.
Taurine is an important amino acid that plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including heart health and muscle recovery. I appreciate that this product is formulated without harmful additives, is non-GMO, and free of gluten and dairy.

Taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids found in the human body.
It is found exclusively in animal-based foods, especially seafood, but also is added to various energy drinks.
According to research, taurine draws water into the cells of the human body, effectively hydrating the cell thus increasing my muscle protein synthesis.
Taurine helps with the replenishment to muscle hydration, which helps me in my workout routine, as exercise depletes taurine levels.
It helps prevent the breakdown of hyaluronic acid and helps with lubrication of my joints, skin and eyes, which declines as we age.
Since I work out regularly, I wanted to enjoy the benefits of taurine, especially as I reach middle-age!
There is 1000mg (1G) of taurine per capsule. This supplement has no apparent odor and is well tolerated in my body.

Taurine 1000mg is a standout supplement for energy and the main ingredient in engery drinks without all the chemicals! This is made in the USA by Puregen who I have been using other supplements from them for a few years now. Clean, non-GMO formula made in USA. Each capsule is potent with 1000mg dose and higher than other brands, making it highly effective for muscle recovery and maintaining muscle mass. The capsules are easy to swallow. Highly recommend!
