I have not had an experience with Heliocare or similar items. I researched this item since I want to avoid tanning for skin health, but I do not use a lot of sunscreens, especially zinc oxide.
I started by taking two capules a day for 2 months, then only one a day. I would take an extra capsule if I planned to be in the sun most of the day, along with sunblock.
Since taking this, I have noticed a lot less tanning than in a regular summer. I would not rely on this for all-day beachtime without sunblock, but it works fine for regular days that the most I see of sunshine is during the commute to work.

I’ve used this supplement for several years now. It truly helps to protect your skin from sun burns. I take it every time I know I’m going to be outside for longer than a half hour. I find that when I have had to take it for several days in a row that my skin looks clearer. I have told many friends about this supplement because I wish I had known about it in my younger years so I would have avoided several bad sun burns.

I can’t say for sure if they work but I haven’t experienced any negative effects from it. I am good about using sunscreen nowadays but I take these as added protection for my skin. When I was a kid I had sunburns on the regular (fair skin, 80’s child living along the the So Cal coast), and in recent years I’ve had to get multiple pre-cancerous things burnt off by the Derm so I started taking the Heliocare supplement. Polypodium Leucotomos is the the main ingredient in it so I switched to this brand instead since it’s more affordable.

I have used this product by another manufacturer and like how it protects my skin as it is very sensitive to sun. I purchased this product because it read 500 mg after the name so I believed it to be stronger than the 240 mg of the other product with approx the same pill count therefore a better value. Upon receiving it and reading the label closer I discovered it was a 2 pill dosage to make the 500 mg, so it twice the number of pills. A little deceiving….
But I am happy with the product but I do not feel it is a good value for the price.

I have vitiligo a skin condition that makes me get sunburned fast, and certain areas are without pigment making it easy to burn. I have been using this product for 8 weeks now and it works and protects my skin from the outside. My skin looks and feels better also. But most of all I do not sunburn. Extra perk is smoother better looking skin

I gave this 4 stars only because I’m not sure if it actually helped me prevent sunburn since I usually also use sunscreen (used the Polypodium as extra protection on the water). It probably does what it says as to UV protection, since there’s a lot of supporting scientific research. It did seem to be great for skin in general as it has noticeably cleared up some bumps and blemishes, which is a very nice extra effect.
Capsules were easy to take and didn’t cause any stomach or other issues. All in all, a great product that gives you peace of mind when out in the sun. (Pay attention to the label cautions, though, and don’t skip the sunscreen….)

So I purchased this because I was taking Fig. 1 Beauty’s Skin Radiance supplement, and figured I could get the same effects, more cheaply, by ordering the main ingredients separately (Mostly niacinamide and polypodium) and this version has a much higher concentration of the polypodium, so I ordered it.
I was hoping for dark spots on my complexion to be reduced, and for my skin to brighten, (which is has!) but out of the blue, my warts are gone. Warts I’ve had for over 10 years – suddenly, over the course of two weeks, just…gone. I have used every product known to man to get rid of those things, and if they worked, the warts still returned. I looked this up and apparently this might be an unadvertised benefit of polypodium!
I now have my son using this for psoriasis!
I’ve had zero negative effects – NO gut problems, nothing. This is an amazing supplement!!!
