I decided to finally try out some clear protein after seeing different versions hit the market recently. It was also a great way to introduce someone new to fitness who wasn’t stoked on trying out standard protein drinks.
I’ll say, it’s not my favorite flavor, it definitely has a bit of a chemically taste, but it’s not so overbearing that it’s unpleasant.
Although it says you can add it to cold water, I found it having a hard time dissolving really well without the use of a milk frothing wand, or a shaker bottle.

I bought the Sunwarrior Clear Protein Powder in Peach Mango to help with macro counting. While it doesn’t provide enough protein for post-workouts, it works well as a supplement on days when I have lighter macro lunches, like salads or sandwiches. With 10g of protein for 50 calories, it’s decent, and it helps me hit my daily macro goals without adding excessive calories. Plus, it spares my office mates from the “stinky” boiled egg smell in the lunchroom. 🙄 (IMO, boiled eggs don’t stink, and don’t smell anywhere near as offensive as fish, but I digress.)
The taste, though, is an acquired one. It has a distinctly artificial flavor, which isn’t surprising given the “natural flavors” listed in the ingredients. For those unfamiliar, “natural flavors” can include anything from plant or animal-derived substances to more processed, chemical-based ingredients. This likely explains the chemical taste mentioned in some reviews.
Ultimately, I think $34.97 before tax is too expensive for this protein powder, which works out to $1.17 per serving. I already have an egg protein powder mix that I use for post-workouts and could easily use for meals, so I don’t plan on repurchasing this product.
Rating: 3.5/5 due to it not being more affordable and the amount of protein is rather low for a protein powder

Upfront, I’d like this protein powder. I am not using it for bulking purposes or for gains. I’ve been using it for a small protein boost, typically when I do an afternoon light workout. It doesn’t interfere with my dinner. But it adds extra protein for my workout. I intend to use this more when cutting.
I should add the flavor is pretty good and it was easy to mix.

The concept of this type of protein powder is great: something that will easily mix with water to make a nice, refreshing drink that stands out compared to the usually thick and hearty protein shakes. The fact that it’s made with upcycled barley protein is another neat aspect.
This protein powder is somewhat successful as a drink mix. It mixes fairly well with water when shaken or blended. The main disappointment was that when I tried to make simple protein drinks by mixing the protein powder with water I always ended up with a thick layer of foam.
The packaging warned against foam, and recommended letting the drink sit for a couple minutes to let the foam dissipate. Even after waiting past the suggested time, the foam would still be present. While not the end of the world, I found the foam to annoying, and it took away some of the enjoyment from the drink.
When I blended the powder into a thick smoothie with frozen blueberries, I didn’t have the issue with the foam and the powder gave some nice flavor and protein to the drink. The powder has a sweet peach-mango flavor that’s good, assuming that you like fruit-flavored drinks.
As a whole, I thought the protein powder was decent. Nothing amazing, but still fine. I was ready to give it a 3-star rating as an average product, but then I randomly decided to sprinkle some on some popcorn I had made. That was when I realized that the protein powder has another use as a seasoning. The protein powder is very fine, so it’s easy to sprinkle on top of other foods and incorporate it into various dishes. It adds sweetness and a fruity flavor that can go well with a lot of things, from popcorn to beans. I found that sprinkling a little over different foods was a fun way to put a new twist on meals.

I ordered this protein refresher for a few reasons. I like to increase my protein intake however I am vegetarian so I strive not too drink animal proteins. And the source of protein comes from plants, which is awesome.
I also work out quite often, and sometimes I need a little bit of extra sodium so this product provides that.
It’s really yummy and I chose to use a frother to blend this in my coffee cup. I didn’t have a shaker with me at the moment and I really like the frothiness of this product.
Since I used a frother and not a shaker bottle, I cannot say if the foam will dissipate if someone uses a shaker bottle, but if someone uses a frother it will definitely stay frothy, which is what I love.😍
I really like this product and I hope they make some more flavors .

I’m not a fan of the taste. I’ve tried other fruit flavor protein drinks that aren’t thick like most shakes and they don’t taste this bad. I even tried adding extra ice and water but it just didn’t taste good to me. Also, the powder was clumpy in water and even after letting it sit to dissolve more, it kept settling and clumping in my bottle.

I got this for hubby who is always trying to find ways to add more protein to his diet. I will start out with this guy eats/drinks anything. That being said, his review is as follows: ” Tastes like plastic mixed with strong sugar and rotten peaches. In order to get 10g of protein, have to guzzle 12 oz…not worth it.” So, there you have…the man that eats and drinks anything can’t stand it. To each their own though.

The mango has a nice flavor. I shared some with my mom who normally won’t drink protein bit enjoyed this one. Because it’s not dairy or milk based it’s easier to consume. It takes a whole to get it blended. I used an electric mixer. It will start to separate of you dont drink it quickly. Overall, to have protein supplement that is easy to consume is a huge WIN!
