This is a really high-quality sea moss. Just a small handful makes sea moss gel that lasts up to 2 weeks and I really appreciate that there is little to no taste at all in it. I was so happy with the price and to see that the bag was stuffed full unlike other brands. This sea moss is dirty and I don’t think it has been pre washed or rinsed like the others I have used. But I don’t mind, I always wash it anyway so extra washing doesn’t bother me.
As for the gel. My old brand I would use 14 grams of sea moss (weight dry) to 1 cup of water. I did that for my first batch and it would not firm up. The next batch I increased to 30 grams of sea moss and it still didn’t firm up. If I tilt the jar it acts like a liquid unlike a gel.
The extra sea taste and smell is there like other people mentioned. I got rid of a lot of it by washing it and changing the soaking water several times. I put some strawberries and mango in my gel to cover the taste so if that was the only issue I could get over it.
I will not be purchasing this brand again and I don’t think I want to finish this bag
Update: I have updated my review because this company is amazing and they stand by their product. They reached out to me and made it right. Like I said in my original review, you just need to thoroughly wash this product like you should be doing anyway.

It has a slight fishy/ Ocean smell. Not beachy by any means but it’s not moldy or mildewy so it’s not bad. I’ve been taking it for a few weeks now mixed with the matcha magic. When I stopped for a few days I noticed more aches and pains and my skin was dry. The benefits of softer skin and not itching as much as I was along with the less pain from arthritis make it easy to deal with a little funny smell.

I tried this product because I really wanted sea moss to work for me. I previously purchased the sea moss and bladderwrack supplement in capsules and I didn’t have any problems. When I started taking this product, I started small doses, as recommended. I started putting one tablespoonful into my smoothie and after a couple of hours I noticed the roof of my mouth became very sore as if I had something very hot. It took a couple of days for my mouth to heal. I read the side effects of taking sea moss and found this to be an allergic reaction. Therefore I looked for other ways to use my sea moss without ingesting it. I saw videos that said it could strengthen your hair when applied topically. I tried the directions seen on the video and within minutes, my eyes started to swell and my mouth started to burn again. The side effects listed warn that these are serious reactions and suggest getting medical attention. I started drinking a lot of water last night and I feel like it is being diluted in my system because I feel a little better. If I am not back to normal in a day or two, then I will seek medical attention.
