I love sweets, but I don’t like that sugar has so many calories, especially the empty calories of sweetened beverages. I’ve been using sucralose (which I bought in bulk from Bulk Supplements – and yes, if you’re interested in Sucralose (Splenda) you won’t find a more affordable way to get it than through these guys. It’s top notch. Look at my review of it from awhile ago)
Anyway, there has been some research in the last year, several studies, that have found that possibly sucralose and aspartame, and definitely saccharin, while they don’t have calories because we can’t digest them, the bacteria in our gut do still eat them. Saccharin has been found to be delicious to a harmful strain of bacteria, and there is some preliminary evidence that *maybe* there is a lesser degree of problem with sucralose and aspartame, but I must emphasize, it’s still early days, and the studies have been relatively small and much more research is needed. Anyway, the bacteria that these artificial sweeteners seem to feed is not beneficial, and may increase glucose intolerance, and may make it very hard to lose weight. Again, more research is needed, and the amounts of sweetener tested were basically at the max for what a human should consume in a day, so they tested a large amount to get those results and only tested it on a very small, limited population.
That being said, my husband and I have been consuming a lot of sucralose in the last decade. And I also have a fondness for aspartame in diet soda. And neither one of us has been able to lose weight even though we have restricted our calories and both exercise. We don’t need to lose a lot, but it’s been an ongoing frustration for the last decade to lose anything.
So, with this new research, they have also found that stevia, while being calorie free for humans, actually feeds a bacteria in our guts that is beneficial. I tried stevia long ago and didn’t like the bitter aftertaste, but after reading the reviews on here for Bulk Supplements stevia, I thought I’d give it a try.
All of the supplements from Bulk Supplements appear to be pure. Of course, I don’t have my own lab for analysis, but they seem to be high quality. I know some people don’t like anything from China, and they don’t say where their sources come from, but they do seem pure, and you can’t beat the price, either.
Just look at how much a box of stevia costs in the little packets. It’s outrageous, especially for people like my husband and I who drink tea and coffee and like it sweet. I did an analysis of the savings for sucralose by getting it in bulk and it was astonishing. (it might be in my review, I don’t remember). I didn’t do the same analysis with stevia, but a rough guesstimation seemed like it was much more affordable.
I also like that it’s 100% pure stevia. The label says it’s 90% of the one chemical that is responsible for the sweetness, and the other 10% is parts of the stevia plant, in case that confuses you. So don’t worry, it’s pure stevia. Most of the ready packages you can buy of stevia have a lot of filler which I really don’t want to pay for.
The filler is nice for measuring it spoon for spoon like sugar, though. So I got this idea of combining my own filler with this pure stevia. My idea is combining it with a prebiotic, which will help the good bacteria in my gut by giving them a good food. So I ordered some pure powdered inulin but haven’t mixed them together yet.
For now, I’m using this pure stevia to sweeten my coffee and my husband’s tea. For a gallon of tea, it doesn’t take too much to get it pretty sweet, however, it takes about 3 times as much as straight, pure sucralose. Sucralose is over 600 times sweeter than sugar, and I think stevia is about 100-150 times sweeter than sugar.
TASTE: When I opened the bag, I could instantly taste the stevia! It’s pretty sweet! The trick is to make sure you use just the right amount, which takes some experimentation. If you use too much, it does make things bitter. I’ve been lucky and haven’t used too much, so I haven’t tasted the bitterness. And it doesn’t taste like the stevia I tried about a decade ago that was icky, but wasn’t pure, either. So it tastes sweet, but with the amount I used in my coffee, it’s not quite as sweet as what I was having with sucralose. But that’s not a problem because I usually over-sweetened with sucralose (and yes, it gets really bitter if you overdo it, too!). So it’s pleasant and tastes fine. There is a very slight aftertaste but it isn’t unpleasant or icky. I find that sugar leaves more of an aftertaste, actually.
The bag that it comes in keeps the powder out of the light and keeps it dry, but I prefer to move some of it to a little metal canister (also keeps the light out) which is easier to open and close several times a day.
It takes a bit to get it to dissolve in cool and cold liquids. It’s not as bad as sugar, but not as quick to dissolve as sucralose. I think if the liquid were warm or hot it might be easier. But it just takes a bit extra time, so it’s not a big deal.
I am going to make a liquid concentrate to drop in my tea instead of the powder, but I haven’t done it yet so I don’t know what ratios would be good. Again, it’s something to experiment with. Do You Even Science!? 😀
Bottom Line: Bulk Supplements has been extremely reliable and affordable. I’ve ordered quite a few supplements from them and they all seem pure and seem to be exactly what I am expecting.
And according to research, stevia is the best no calorie sweetener for your microbiome (all the little microbes that are part of you. Most of them are really helpful and you couldn’t live easily without them, so treat them well!) and is actually beneficial as opposed to harmful. So even though the research is in its early days, it probably isn’t a bad idea, especially if you’re struggling to lose weight, to switch to it instead of other artificial sweeteners, or actual sugar.

I use a lot of sweetners in my coffee and have for years. When I found this bag I got excited because it would have been a great cost savings compared to the little jars I buy at the health food store. I was immediately disgusted by this stuff, it tastes nothing like stevia. The only way I can describe it is that it tastes metallic. Nothing about this is sweet. After trying it in my coffee several times I gave up because it makes the coffee undrinkable. I wanted to return it but it says the item is not returnable. So I have a full bag of this stuff that I’m going to just throw in the garbage because it’s disgusting. Anyone out there, stay away. You’re better off buying something from the health food store that you can actually use.

How much stevia can 1 person buy before it spoils? More u buy, more u save. It’s FAR less expensive then sugar. I bought 5,392lbs “sugar” via 4kg stevia. This is 1 kilogram bulksupplements stevia in photo. Too much? No. I’m only 1 person. I am buying 4. My last kilogram lasted 3 years frozen. It freezes well. One kilogram stevia equaled 1,348lbs sugar and lasted 3 years. Mostly I made sweet drinks with it. Summers are hot here.
For bible believers, sugar will be crucial when Lucifer enforces chip. No sugar in nature when u are dining on fish, birds, weeds and small rodents. Pine needle tea taste quite better with sugar when Lucifers money no longer exists.
I’m buying 4 kg, $78 per kilo. …= $312. Vs $2,588 for the cheapest walmart sugar bought this amount in bulk. Stevia is much cheaper. Easier to carry in back pack too. When fleeing Lucifers forces.
Secondly I need to save my teeth. Sugar raises PH. This causes tooth decay, and cancer, and weakens body drammatically.
I averaged 1 kg stevia in 3 years for 6 years running. Now I will reduce my sugar intake even further, by going to 2 to 3 grams stevia per day instead of 1, and keep blood much more alkaline then b4. At 2.5 grams stevia per day, 4 kilograms will last 4.37 years. My experience is u have to freeze it if u want that it lasts this long. 3 years is a more practical max as tate wI’ll degrade, weaken at that point. Simply use a gram scale to calculate how much YOU can manage a day, and do the math.
Don’t go overboard on alkalinity. The reptilian (reptilian are fallen angels) have always used excess alkalinity as a means to weaken, brainwash, and possess humans. For example they do this by feeding prisoners of war only fruits and vegetables. The present day human body also needs acidic sugar and meat.
My 3 year old stevia is about as potent as this one. But tastes a bit stale. This brand bulk supplements is excellent potency wise, and no additives. Stevia and Monk fruit are said to be th safest of the sweeteners, from what i read. Remember – it’s an acidic bloodstream that causes tooth infections. I have cured root canals with alkaline foods and topical thereputic grade oregeno oil. Alkaline promoting Stevia has become a godsend there4.
These clues: Because I’m the world leader, in the future stevia will be available laced with blackstrap mollasses powder ofcourse duh. Temper all your artificial sweeteners with this wonderful product. Blackstrap molasses is the sugar god (Yahuah, His throne is in the sun) particle that Lucifers poisonous kids removed from white sugar. Has minerals, vitamins, concentrated flavor, aroma, etc. Very healthy. It will turn your hair white again lol. Seriously. Copper does it. To get all 90 trace minerals, just read my Tangy Tangerine recipe where I reveal to mankind a homemade mineral rich alternative to that overpriced rip off. (Start by buying 44lbs AZOMITE, heaping teaspoon a day. About 3,600mg adults.) And don’t eat Lucifers POISON salt either. Buy 35lbs Himalayan ebay. And no, that won’t last u NEARLY a lifetime. Do thmath. U eat more then u think. Buy 3 5 gal buckets (15 gallons) BS molasses websteraunt $137 shipped. Comes with 3 free buckets.
(Here is how I did the math: .34 gram = 1/4 teaspoon stevia which = 1 Cup sugar. (208 grams sugar.) 1,000g ÷ .34 = 2941 cups sugar per kg stevia. 2941 x 208 = 611,764g (1348lbs sugar) sugar per kg stevia. 1348 ÷ 25lbs sugar bag = 54 bags. 54 x $12 bag = $648 vs $78 per kilogram stevia.)
