This is a convenient way to get the nutritional benefits of beets without cooking them. This mixes easily and is particularly good for travel. I like it in a strong juice such as grape, but it works well combined with a vitamin c supplement drink as well. I just chug it down and feel happy that I have that nutritional boost first thing.

I usually juice beets along with carrot and apple. I like the taste of beets, both cooked and as a juice. So this product tastes great to me whether I simply take a teaspoon directly, or mix it into a glass of carrot juice. If I mix it, the juice is pretty close to what I’d expect if I’d used an actual beet. What I don’t know is what nutrients are lost in the transition from beet to beet powder. The label doesn’t list the nutritional content of the powder, so I don’t know if this powder is simply providing the taste of beets without any of the nutritional value, or if rather it provides everything that I’d have gotten from beets directly, but without the fuss and muss of juicing and/or cooking. I know some of the beet is lost in the juicing process, so for all I know this is even better than juicing. In any case, the taste is comparable to beets, so that’s all good. But I’d like to know more about what I’m taking as a supplement.

I really wanted to like this stuff. I haven’t used it long enough to tell if it’s a boost to my health or not, but after a couple weeks of use, I’m editing my review to say I’m done with this product. I’ve got red beet juice stains all over my kitchen and some of my clothing. Weather from spilling a little powder, or the liquid drink — it’s a mess. I’ve also never gotten used to the taste either. I don’t like it and prefer my supplements in tablet form. This is likely an effective supplement . . . but there are more pleasant ways to get the benefit.

I bought this product last month and it is different than the first time I ordered it around 6 months ago. The differences were in the color, texture, and taste. When I tried to return or get a replacement, I couldn’t. If you want this product, don’t order it from the seller on this site. There is no contact info on the vendor, which is a red flag

Easy to add to morning drink.

I like beets. I didn’t when I was younger, but they are a veggie I’ve learned to enjoy, and the benefits of consumption are many, from helping to maintain good blood pressure to physical recovery during exercise. However, they are a pain to prepare fresh; staining fingers, cutting boards and cookware. This is a great option if you want a convenient method of ingesting your beets but don’t have the time or will to prepare them yourself.

A single teaspoon mixed into a beverage or recipe provides all the benefits of consuming a couple of fresh beets. Nature’s Way Beet Root Powder is a bit ‘cakey’ when I first cracked open the contain, but it powders easily with a little stirring. It also mixes easily into water and dissolves into it with little effort. After just a few days of regular use, I feel the boost in energy and overall health and well-being. Fresh is always best, but this powder is an excellent alternative.

UPDATE on 12/15/17: dropping my rating from five to three stars because of the epic gas/bloating I have noticed after adding the beet root powder to my smoothies. Taking a phazyme helps a lot, but I’m not sure I want to have to take an anti-gas pill every single day so I can deal with the beet root powder. I’m determined not to give up, though, because anemia is a tough thing to have and I can’t take iron pills because of the side effects (super painful), so I’m going to keep using this and if my body adjusts or if it’s just some weird temporary thing unrelated to the beet root powder, I’ll be back to update my review again.

I have anemia and have a really hard time taking iron pills/supplements (even Vitron) because it just makes my digestive crawl to a complete stop- I have Spina Bifida so I already had problems in that department. To be honest, I’d rather deal with the side effects of severe low iron/anemia than the side effects of severe constipation so I really don’t take the Vitron often or at all.

However, my iron levels are *super* low and it’s actually starting to really have a negative impact on my life- lots of dizziness and low energy. So I decided to give beet root powder a try to see if I can boost my iron even a little bit without dealing with the side effects of iron supplements.

So far it’s okay- I haven’t noticed a huge boost to my feeling good, but I haven’t been taking the powder long.

I add the beet powder to my morning smoothie (usually Amazing Grass, some chocolate soy milk, ice, a banana, some decaf instant coffee crystals for a little taste kick)- the recommended dose of Beet Root is one teaspoon. It is SUPER DUPER BRIGHT MAGENTA finely grained powder. It turns the smoothie a little bit pink, but to be honest, I notice absolutely no taste with the beet root added to it. I do notice that it thickens the smoothie up a lot, which may have to do with the starches in the beet root.

I haven’t noticed any negatives effects, but I’m trying to be cautious because I have read that beet root can cause kidney stones, and I’m not remotely interested in that. So if you have kidney issues, I would absolutely do some more research and consult your doctor before you use this. It’s just a head’s up from the research I have done- I wanted to make sure there wasn’t any weird lurking side effects to this before I started taking it (specifically: more constipation). The kidney stuff came up, as did small drop in blood pressure, and the fact that it might turn all “output” from the lower parts of the body bright pink. I haven’t experienced any of those things.

If this changes my general health or energy levels or has any negative issues pop up, I *will* absolutely update this review. But for now, I’m grateful to have it- if it helps my anemia and means I can take less iron pills, I’ll be thrilled.
