As someone who has used their shampoo and love that fragrance they used in that product, I was excited to see this body wash version. It seems like the popularity of their shampoo/conditioner made him come out with a similarly fragranced body wash version. I don’t know if I can call this their signature scent but I just love it. One of my favorite perfume (another brand) has oud in it, so I was not surprised that I love this velvet oud scent. It has that gender neutral scent to where it isn’t super masculine but not feminine either. It evokes sort of a sexy, sensual feeling for me. Scents are such a personal thing so you’ll either love this, feel indifferent, or absolutely hate it. No amount of descriptive words from me will work as well as you getting a smell of this yourself. If you can get your hands on a sample of this I recommend doing that before splurging on this body wash as it is on a higher price point.
This is one of those luxurious, fragranced body washes. I say this because typically body washes in this category don’t cater to those with super sensitive skin or fragrance allergies. If you have super sensitive skin (body) or don’t like perfumed body washes this may not be a good fit for you. It does have a few potentially irritating ingredients, even just from the fragrance alone. I personally, luckily enough, don’t have super sensitive skin so from time to time I allow myself products like this – sometimes a fragrance can just uplift and change my day in a positive way. I have been using this very sparingly because it is quite pricey and I want to savor this for special days.
If you loved the Philip B shampoo/conditioner, give this body wash version a try. Yes, it is a bit on the pricier side but this type of fragrance (oud) is quite pricey to begin with. Any perfume with quality oud oils is going to be pricey. I believe it is one of the priciest oils. I smelled agarwood on an environmental field trip when I was young and even back then I remember how much I loved that smell, to the point where that moment is etched in one of my memories. Bottom line is if you can splurge a little, give this luxurious body wash a try.

This body wash feels expensive – from the bottle to the feel of the skin after rinsing it off. I really liked the fragrance – it is delicate but very pleasant; woody and slightly flowery. The little gold flakes in the product definitely add to the luxurious feel! This body wash leaves the skin well moisturized and hydrated. Great body wash!

This body wash was too harsh for my very sensitive skin. Left my skin feeling a little itchy and was patchy after use. My husband used it and it left his skin soft and he enjoyed the scent and had no reaction to it. Would recommend testing on a small area of your body if you have sensitive skin vs what I did which was lather all over right away. Had to discontinue use due to skin irritation.

I love everything Philip B comes out with. I had their deep treatment conditioner and loved it (it lasted me well over 18 months). This body wash is equally as luxurious and smells DIVINE!
It comes in a gorgeous gold box. The container is top notch, from the quality of the plastic to the sturdy flip-top cap. The body wash is amber colored and flecked with tiny gold sparkles and gold flakes. It gets super sudsy and lathers well (without stripping your skin of its’ natural oils). It leaves my skin feeling soft and supple, with a warm and pleasant fragrance left behind. Who needs perfume when you have decent smelling soap?!
It has a very distinctive and unique sent. I consider it unisex, leaning towards masculine. They say it smells like “oud,” which to me smells like amber & spiced woods (think warm sandalwood middle notes with spicy vanilla and floral top notes). It screams EXPENSIVE!
TIP: Do yourself a favor and use it as a bubble bath. Divine.
I highly recommend treating yourself or someone special with this! I could see it being a nice hostess gift, new Mom or birthday present. 😉

…. clear, sort of amber-ish/brownish colored shower gel.
The bottle I received has tiny bubbles sort of suspended in the product which gives it a sparkly kind of look.
The cap on this bottle is the flip cap type of dispenser; press one edge with your thumb and the other side of the cap comes up; you then squeeze the bottle to dispense product.
Under the cap is a safety seal which you will need to remove before dispensing.
Putting my nose right up to the neck of the bottle with the cap off, the intensity of scent is around a 4 on a scale of 10 (being the strongest).
I can’t quite put my finger on what the scent itself is supposed to be.
I would call it pleasant, gender-neutral, maybe just a little on the fruity side but clean smelling.
The product page describes it as “Velvet oud”.
The search I did that describes what that is supposed to smell like says:
smokey, woody and musky with warm tones of amber coming through.
I’m just not really sure that I get that from this.
While not unappealing to me, neither is the scent something that I would crave or choose first when getting in the shower.
I used about a quarter (coin) sized dollop of this on my favorite, most lather producing body sponge.
This shower gel is on the thicker side.
I would describe the thickness to be about a 6, on a scale of 10.
The strength of scent of this in the shower was about a 4-5 on that same scale of 10.
The volume or thickness of lather seemed to be about a 5 on a scale of 10.
The lather did not peter out; every time I rinsed and squeezed that sponge, more lather came out.
The feel of this on my skin after drying off is about right.
Not greasy feeling and not dry.
In these winter months I would still be apt to apply moisturizer to my skin.
While this is a nice product, only you can decide if it’s worth $70 to you.
Me, I’d rather spend the excess funds on some really good coffee beans.
