My dog loves the taste. I have tasted it. It tastes just like honey. I cannot account for the other ingredients. The bottle in the picture is VERY DECEIVING. It looks very large in the picture, pay attention to the ounces. My minpin is 15 pounds and I have gone through 1/2 of a bottle in one week giving the recommended doses. It seems very over priced for the amount that you get and the amount you give. Other than enjoying the taste I cannot say much about helping with his collapsing trachea cough. He still takes hydrocodone at night, and still coughs, even with the new elixir. I would spend any amount of money to help my sweet baby, but I feel like what you get here for the amount of money that you pay is imbalanced. Not sure if I will buy again. I just may go back to giving him 1/2 teaspoon of honey 4 times a day.

So, I have read the reviews of this product with many saying their dogs cough has stopped. I have had no such luck at all. Listed as a Trachea soother makes me wonder how it stops a cough according to the reviews. This product is honey so it may or may not soothe irritated trachea. The price is steep to say the least but was worth trying. As mentioned, this product did not help my pet. Please PawHealer keep trying to help our pets the best way you can.

My poodle George has collapsed trachea I am pretty sure. Steroids and other liquid medication from the vet were not working. He is about 5 pounds overweight and we are working on his diet and exercise. Every time he drinks water he coughs uncontrollably. I was researching collapsed trachea online and came across this product. I found the the product on Amazon and began to read the reviews and for the 1st time I felt hopeful. It is a pricey product but I am willing to try anything so George does not have to have surgery . The 1st couple of days I did not notice a difference but then one day he was drinking water and he did not cough up a lung after drinking! There was still a cough but it was much lighter. After that I noticed a dramatic change in his coughing after water consumption. It was so much less.. And last night he drank water and did not cough once. I will continue to use this product for George along with diet and exercise.. We live in Texas so it is blazing hot right now and getting out for walks is very hard. This is magic is magic in a bottle! He doesn’t seem to mind the flavor ether. It has brought much needed comfort to George!

The trachea honey and herb formula was something I thought I should try. The vet said my 14-year-old Jack Russell sounded like she had collapsed trachea – a disorder common in smaller dogs. Her coughing progressed to a loud honking sound, but only when she’d get excited. But then it grew to almost constant. The vet gave her Hydrocodone (formulated for pets), 2 pills X 2x per day. I only gave her 1 pill when she’d start coughing again.

Then the Hydrocodone wasn’t helping as much anymore. I added the Trachea Honey to her regimen: 1 pill with a squirt of honey to help the pill down. I noticed my dog was surprised by how much she liked the taste of the honey. The honey soothed her throat, which made the coughing settle down.

I went to a vet specialist to seeing about having a stent inserted in her esophagus to keep the esophagus from collapsing. The specialist suspected my dog didn’t have collapsed trachea. The specialist thought my dog might have something called bronchial collapse. “Here’s a prescription for a bronchodilator. See me in two weeks.”

When I got my dog home, I gave her one of the bronchodilator meds (1 per 12 hours). In ten minutes, she was no longer coughing or honking. She wasn’t panting with her mouth hanging out, as if she couldn’t breathe.

The specialist told me to cut back on her hydrocodone. Since doing so, I have my dog back. She’s not always sleeping because of the effects of the hydrocodone. Only in a great while will I hear her cough now. I give her her meds with the honey, which she gets twice her pay, just 1-1/2 tsp twice a day. It gets her to swallow her pills, and she loves the taste of it. And like how we need a lozenge for a scratchy throat, I imagine she needs one just to make her feel good.

We tried to give this a chance, we really did. It was very expensive, but you know how it is. We would do anything for our pups. Unfortunately, after three weeks of use and testing I can, without a doubt say that it works no better than plain old honey for collapsed, trachea cough.

Tried as n.an alternative treatmen to Rx meds and/or Trachea surgery on Chihuahua…
    Did it help?
Not sure, seemed to have helped subside coughing.
    Would I recommend? Yes
Compared to Rx costs, it’s worth trying…

I bought a puppy a few months ago; and the second day that he was home, he started to have a harsh, honking-sounding cough, so I took him to the vet. The vet thought it was a virus (kennel cough), and prescribed a steroid and antibiotic, along with a pill for his cough. He took the medicine for 14 days with no relief. He coughed just as hard when taking the medicine as when the cough first started. I went online to see if I could find something that might help him. I found the Trachea Soother Syrup advertised on Amazon, and it appeared that others had success with it relieving their pet’s cough, so I thought I would give it a try. After he finished his last dose of the steroid and antibiotic, he continued to cough very hard. So I gave him his first dose of the syrup before taking him back to the vet. He seemed to like the flavor, and the cough seemed to have eased a little. Every time he started coughing, I would give him the trachea soother, and it seemed to have helped. This went on for a week with the coughing spells getting less harsh and less frequent, and finally disappearing altogether. He did not have to go back to the vet. He is now three weeks cough-free without having to take anything. It appeared to me that his coughing was eased when he started on the syrup. I am very pleased with the results.
