This supplement has some mild side effects such as stomach discomfort and slight body fatigue but it is minor and goes away once you know what to expect and how to counteract it. I did a blood test before and after 3 weeks and my zinc level increase by 10%, which is quite good and shows the supplement does indeed work.

Zinc is an anti-oxidant and essential trace mineral. It has many benefits. I use it for prostate and eye health.
Your body needs zinc, but only in small amounts (i.e., traces), so you should careful not to overdo it. How much is too much? The consensus seems to be 40 to 100 mg a day. Some say 40 mg is the limit. Others put it as high as 100 mg. To some extent it depends on you personal diet and metabolism. Consult your own health care practitioner to see what’s right for you.
Pattern Wellness’s supplement contains 30 mg of zinc per capsule, which is on the low end.
Zinc can be sold in either Picolinate or Gluconate form. Zinc Picolinate is zinc combined with picolinic acid to improve bodily absorption. Zinc Gluconate is derived from gluconic acid. Some studies suggest that it’s naturally more soluble (no need to combine with other elements) and easier on the stomach.
Pattern Wellness offers Zinc Picolinate. Some competing supplements offer both forms. Some one or the other.
Pattern Wellness’s Zinc has a very light gray hue (especially to the naked eye; less so in my photos). Most zinc supplements are bright white, but I’ve seen a couple of other zinc supplements that are light gray.
I like that Pattern Wellness is in capsule form. Capsules, softgels, and tinctures are easier for the body to absorb than are tablets, because tablets contain binders to hold them together.
When taking Zinc supplements, you should also take 2 mg of Copper per day. Zinc and Copper deplete each other, which is why some supplements combine them into one capsule — but also why it’s better if they’re taken at different times during the day — i.e., separate supplements.
Pattern Wellness’s Zinc supplement also has 60 mg of Vitamin C per capsule, which is nice, but not an especially large dosage.
It also has 150 mg of a “Mineral Blend” per capsule, which includes Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sulfur, Iron, Boron, Sodium, Manganese, Cobalt, Copper, Zinc, Selenium.
I find this odd and confusing. Confusing, because it doesn’t say how much of each mineral. And is this Zinc in the 150 mg “Mineral Blend” in addition to the 30 mg of Zinc Picolinate, or part of that 30 mg? And how much Copper?
Also included is 60 mg of a “Probiotic Blend,” which is also nice. But while it names the CFUs it contains, it doesn’t say how many billions of CFUs in that 60 mg.
And also 166 mg of a “Fruit & Vegetable Blend.”

My wife has been taking zinc supplements for several years for immune system support. Up to now she has been taking it as a stand-alone zinc supplement, but the Pattern Wellness brand zinc supplement also adds Vitamin C, a mix of other minerals, probiotics, plus an organic fruit and vegetable blend. Although it is more expensive than the zinc-only supplement she’s been taking, after all’s been said and done it actually is more reasonably priced than it appears. The reason for this is that she now no longer has to take a separate probiotic or vitamin C supplement. Additionally, she now has less pills to swallow as part of her daily vitamin intake, and she really likes that!
This Pattern Wellness zinc supplement is manufactured in the U.S., is made from non-GMO ingredients and is gluten, soy and dairy-free. All these things are important to her, so we have a winner here with this product!
