After Neutrogena completely ruined their lip balm, I tried the following to find a replacement. At the end of the day, after months of testing, I find I reach for Palmers the most. Here’s my personal assessment of the alternatives I tried:
Palmer’s coco butter: glides on easy, feels creamy/soft as it goes on, even creamer than my beloved, original Neutrogena balm, does a great job of repairing chapped lips. Favorite, by far!
Aquaphor: long lasting repair of chapped lips, can apply it less often during the day. I’m not a lipstick wearer, so I use this more when I’m out bc it’s shiney, more like a gloss, I keep one in my purse & in my car.
O’keefes: I love their hand lotion so I tried this, but it pulls at lips when applying, doesn’t glide, tied for last place.
Burt’s Bees: this is just gross, it’s just plain wax. I tossed every tube, last place by far.

I went looking for this product because I love the Palmer’s swivel stick. The lip balm is even better! (For lips, that is. The swivel stick is great for cuticles.) This completely healed my dry, chapped lips in ONE DAY. They were chapped despite every other moisturizer I applied, including pure cocoa butter (which I really thought would work.) Palmer’s is the GREATEST.
Also, (and I swear this is an unsponsored review, lol) this formula is free of a lot of common irritants found in other chapsticks (like beeswax, camphor, menthol, methyl salicylate, other flavors, and lanolin.) Often lip balms not working and making your lips feel dryer is due to an adverse reaction to an ingredient, but this lip balm doesn’t have many of the common culprits, so it’s likely to work for many people and definitely worth a try!
Now I just need them to bring back their SPF chapstick so I can stop buying the Sun Bum one for when I want to protect from the sun (which is okayy, but this is way better and cheaper.) I assume Palmer’s re-formulated after the scare about oxybenzone. PLEASE come out with a new SPF formula! (Hopefully still a chemical sunscreen as I’ve found the zinc ones to be really drying.) I will be watching and waiting.

I purchased these to keep at my desk at work and in my car instead of carrying around with me. They are small, but they do the job. My lips feel moisturized. Cocoa better is a good product all around. Definitely good to give to kids to carry around too to keep their lips moisturized.

My loyalty will always be with palmers for moisture, hands down thee best chapstick on the market. I never can find them in stores that’s a bummer but I keep one in every purse and my draw at work. It’s Light weight, and extremely soft formula, my lips always feel the smoothest and softest after I’ve used this chapstick. Not to mention they smell amazing 🤩 Will always be a repurchase for me!
