I have seen several ads for similar products and have been curious. Saw this during the sale so thought I would try it. I got the grapefruit tangerine flavor. It more tangerine than grapefruit in my opinion, but I mix in ruby red grapefruit juice and it’s perfect. I use half a can mixed with equal parts grapefruit juice and drink over 15-20 min just before bed. I work in hospital medicine and work, so I have a very stressful job and this is perfect at making me feel relaxed like I had a glass of wine. I work 7 days on and 7 days off and use this during my work week. Helps to quiet my mind before bed. Have only used 2 cans so far, but I got the same relaxed feeling each time. Hopefully with continued alternate week use, my body won’t adapt to the relaxed sensation.

I am naturally high strung and at the end of a stressful day these really help to even me out. The taste though ughhhh the Blood Orange reminded me of drinking beer.. I had to chug it and still gagged at the end. The Rose and Cherry are barely okay. I haven’t tried the lime yet but I would like to try the tropical. They are worth drinking despite being disgusting.

This is my 3rd time ordering this product. I have tried a few other brands, but none compare to the light refreshing flavors of the Recess brand. I enjoy drinking this in the evening about an hour or two before bed. It helps take the days stresses edge off. My favorite flavor is the grapefruit on, I love all things grapefruit! The quality of this beverage makes it worth the cost, especially when compared to other brands that taste medicinal and just plain nasty. Enjoy!

To keep this review brief, let me just say that I am on the spectrum and recently have noticed an uptick in meltdowns and shutdowns. This time of year is generally hard for me, mentally and emotionally, so that is not surprising in and of itself. But Recess Mood drinks are like a mental shift canned just for me. *The powder does not work as well for this purpose. That is better for the “restless legs” I can experience at night sometimes, especially if I have not intensely worked out recently.*
Regardless, the canned Recess Mood drinks not only a) make me feel like someone put a cloud over my head, dulling aggressive “rumblings” or in-the-loop logic that is unhelpful, b) relax my body only just enough to make my shoulders not feel as tense, c) actually turn down the dial on my anger if I am upset about something, but d) truly can make the difference between me having a good day/night/whatever or an absolutely AWFUL one.
I did read online that magnesium l-threonate is particularly good for autistic individuals so that could be one reason I personally find this so effective. I take many different herbs for many different things (I eschew actual medicine whenever possible) and the combination of magnesium, B6, and adaptogens in these canned drinks are a true winner for me. I just wish that they were not so expensive because, at this time of year, I basically need to drink one every day.
And if anyone cares: I particularly like the Strawberry Rose (extra relaxing due to the rose!) and the Peach Ginger flavors. The Lime Citrus is a hit or miss with the good cans tasting rather like Sprite (which I don’t drink anymore) and the not as good cans being kind of blah. The other flavors are fine but I generally try to buy the three that I listed, if given the option and the price is right.

These flavors are not good. I wanted to like these so bad, but it’s hard to say that it elevates my mood when it tastes so unpleasant. The blood orange is tolerable, but the black cherry tastes like watered down cough syrup to me. You know the bad fake cherry flavor I’m referring to. The strawberry rose does have a fresh strawberry flavor, but like a strawberry that isn’t quite ripe. They’re too pricey to trash, so adding a splash of fruit juice or a squeeze of citrus has helped the flavor for me. I ordered these Recess drinks and the Odyssey Revive at the same time, and I much prefer the Odyssey.

I bought these and the Tru drinks, along with some Kava drinks. I find myself reaching for Recess mood first because of the taste. They are relaxing, but nothing like a real sedative, so set your expectations low when it comes to a change of state, but they’re just enough for me to have a nighttime drink to balance out the coffee I drink during the day.
Kava might be more of an intoxicant, but it is really not that great. I will drink them before social situations, but it might cause liver damage so I wouldn’t make it a regular habit. The Recess mood drinks seem harmless from a herbal/drug standpoint. I don’t think you can overdo the ingredients, which makes them slightly more attractive in my mind.
I think I will buy them again. I don’t know why, but it’s important for me, psychologically to have some sort of drink to balance out coffee, even if they don’t do that much. I have noticed that when I drink them, in the morning I wake up with the satisfied feeling of a good nights rest.

I’ve tried sooooo many products and unfortunately nothing has worked as well as this. I was bouncing back and forth on my decision to buy this because I didn’t want to be disappointed especially with the price being high. I honestly don’t regret it at all. The drinks are delicious! I was mainly purchasung this product because I have extremely high anxiety and sleeping insomnia due to a TBI and PTSD. It surprisingly relaxed me within a few mins and I felt calm even when my anxiety was high at that moment. I will buy more and/or try their other products! Thank you!
